Ok, I'll take away my thread crap. This is absolutely a GREAT deal for a person who has bad vision and is too computer illiterate to increase the size of icons and text in windows.

I would love to have one of these as a backup laptop since i don't really use the netbook, just rather see it with not only a higher res but a quality panel at this price point.. the rest of the specs are fine with me, even though i don't use the optical drive.

add it to your cart without using discover and then go to the site using discover it'll still be in your cart.

not bad. 14" anything is hard to get cheap. And throw in a strong Intel 2nd gen i5 CPU, and this is the real reason it's a slickdeal.
There were Asus, Acer, & Dell 14" laptops with an Intel i3 cpu with a little lower price between $350-400 at BB & Newegg. Otherwise this is good also @ $100 more for smaller size and better cpu & bigger HD!

This is pretty expensive for a DS. It doesn't even come with any games.

My 4 year old 15" MacBook Pro has 1440 x 900 resolution. It is something of an adjustment to switch to my new Lenovo Ideapad with 1366 x 768. It's been 4 years, and Windows manufacturers still haven't caught up to at least match that for something retailing $700-$1000. Then there's the crappy touchpads inherent on most Windows laptops, and less than wonderful keyboards, but that's another story...

the sad part is like i said before, thinkpads were getting those high resolutions a decade ago. for some reason we've regressed in that dept when it comes to the PC side of things. I don't understand why PC manufacturers keep letting apple win.

I bought this laptop the last time around, and for the price this is absolutely a good deal. The snappy and I dont mind the resolution, as it will be mostly used for browsing the internet and watching youtube. The adobe PEPE is a great addition, at least if you were looking for it. Still not bad for some baseline photo and video management. What I dont like, the touchpad is hard to get around, and I am still having a tough time with the keyboard.

I have this computer and LOVE it.. It really was a good investment.

I also saw that one at Costco and was seriously considering getting it; ultra thin and 3rd gen i5. How do you like it? Isn't the processor like 1.5 ghz? How does that compare to the 2nd gen i5 2.5ghz?

it would be nice to get the extra $75 off, but the only problem is, the coupon code listed in this thread expires on 9/10 and the gc deal goes live on 9/11.
