What are some good dividend stocks for long term.

Look at the major holdings for Index funds. Actually, your best bet is probably an index fund, but since you're asking for single large companies..

AT&T/Verizon, Acer, Vizio, Samsung, Asus, HP, Logitech, Apple

Thank what are some good website for researches? I normally use msn/money or yahoo/finance.

I wouldn't invest a penny in the market right now. We are at multi year highs all because of helicopter ben. Wait for the market to crash and burn and there is blood in the streets, then put your money to work. Dividends stocks, especially the blue chip ones are all over owned. If you are a short term trader or daytrader then that is a different story, but it does not sound like it.

dont bother with dividends considering our taxes on dividend income might skyrocket in the near future..

If you are looking for dividends, I'd look at Crane Co (CR)

REIT stocks that have heavy allocation into MBS's. AGNC comes to mind.

I'd say you need to do some research which stocks held up during '00 and '08 that pay "good" (whatever that means) divs and load up.

And keep in mind what Leb said, capital gains taxes for dividend income could take up to like 50% (don't recall the exact figures) come 2013.

Those are good. CVX, JNJ, SNY, XOM, WMT are my personal faves. If you have no qualms against investing in tobacco, MO and PM are solid stocks, especially PM which doesn't have the risk of being primarily in the US where smoking is getting more and more vilified. They pay fat dividends and have had huge gains over the years.

Other areas to check out include REITS like AGNC and NLY. They pay fat dividends but are pretty complicated to understand which can scare some. I also love MLPs for yield but they also can have their own tax headaches as well. My personal favoritie MLP stocks include APU EPD and MMP

Correct. People have been running to safety and yield, so that means domestic divvy blue-chips. People are scared of europe and they hate treasuries.

One stock I am KICKING myself for not buying in the early summer was Novartis (NVS) which was yielding nearly 5% in the low 50s. A safe europe stock IMO

Capital gains may go up to 20% (23.8% if you include obamacare taxes and you make over $200K a year if you are single/$250K a year as a family). Dividends may revert to ordinary income tax rates. We'll have to see what happens.

REITs are pretty interesting. NLY gave the WORST dividends during the housing bubble and has been awesome during the bust and subsequent drop in treasury yields.

I think what he meant to say was a 50% relative increase, which is true if you consider the increase from 15% now to 23.8% next year if Obama has his way (20% under expiration of bush tax cuts, and 3.8% with obamacare taxes if you make over $200K a year)
