No points if you are on medicare, medicaid, tricare, any "federal funded" program. You can get points if it only on sale item, I think. You can also go cardless, which I think it is better. You just have to put in your phone number and forget about card. Too many cards to carry.

To throw in the words "ignorant or misleading" is just wrong. At no time did I state this was the hot deal of the century and I certainly didn't mislead anyone as to what this post dealt with. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() : |

This is why I stick with CVS, able to use EB's on any item and still earn EB's. RR's were a pain for this reason but at least we could switch them around and buy other items. Seems now everything will be OOP(since no points can be used) cost and then we buy our groceries with points

This is 2012, if you can't have software determine what state you are in and have the rules slightly modified, then I give up. |

Walgreens Balance Rewards Program - Experiences, Discussion, How-TosIt seemed like we needed a thread just to talk about all the questions, hints, gotchas, and so forth that will inevitably arise with the nationwide rollout of "The Card".
Post 'em here! I'll kick it off. It looks like the "Earn 10 points for every $1 spent" from the test market has been left out of the nationwide program ?? WB, (your OP above) this was clearly posted as a "discussion" thread. no link, no mention of required enrollment and ability to do so online. I have no problem with this thread, I do have a problem with my thread, which took on a totally different face, for people to enroll, including online users of wags.com being buried here in DS cause some asshat kept alerting the mods to move it, now depriving people in HD who do buy primarily from wags.com to use this link/register, etc. This is clearly a case of DS arrogance on someone's part (not yours). I think it's obvious, the intent of your thread was to act as an ongoing "chat" thread about the program, not the one time importance of alerting people they had to sign up for the program in advance of using it (especially at wags.com). |

Due to the current SD settings, I'm not comfortable with everyone knowing who I rep and what I say in my reps. So while I thank everyone for their contributions, I just may not be able to personally since everyone & their DOG can see it. Please - make your Activity Stream PRIVATE HERE! Need a coupon? I talked to the Walgreens 1-800 number supporting the new Balance Rewards program regarding multiple transactions. This is what I learned
Weekly Balance Reward Promotions - Can be repeated in back to back transactions to receive multiple sets of points Monthly Balance Rewards Promotions - Points can only be earned once per card. Can not earn additional points on back to back transactions Weekly vs. Monthly Promotions should be distinguished on ads and/or shelf tags |

I am a private person when it comes to giving my information to companies as well, but you would have to agree that grocery stores have been doing this for a long time and no one complains. My grocery store requires me to swipe my store card in order to get the sales prices - and it's been that way for years and years. In that way they too have my address, can track my spending habits, and can limit my purchases. So in that aspect, Walgreens is not doing anything worse than many other companies. That said, I still think the program looks pretty lousy. I only wish I had other drugstore options here besides Walgreens.
