I always buy my own phone because I "upgrade" whenever I feel like it. Plus, subsidized "cost" is higher than the up front savings. |

I think $149.99 or even $199.99 with a new two-year contract would be reasonable but they aren't offering even that to existing customers. And heck, I transferred to T-Mobile with my own phone more than two years ago (so I never got a free phone nor was I ever locked into a two-year contract prior). |
