Basically every LTE higher end phone in the US has it now. Atrix HD, One X, One S, SGSIII, Razr HD... |

I've been an iPhone user since it's 1st gen release. I just switched to the Galaxy S3 from the 4S. It's a great phone. It does everything the iPhone does and more. It's super fast too. The only issue I have is battery life. With the iPhone I could get 1.5 days on a charge. I find with the S3 I'm charging this thing in the evening every day. It never quite makes it a full day on a charge. I turned off many of the auto notification settings to save some batter life. That worked but it still eats more battery than the iPhone did. That also has to do with the processor on this thing.
Another thing that's a minor annoyance is that the volume buttons and power buttons are at the same location but on opposite sides of the phone. I find that I often hit the volume buttons when i'm waking up the device since they are both at the same level. That has taken some getting used to. All-in-all, I think this phone is great. It also comes with Android's version of Siri which works really well. Not to mention the turn-by-turn voice navigation that's included in the Android OS which is not on the iPhone. |

I think battery life depends on the user really. My shit thunderbolt has to be charged about every 3-4 hours but I'm on the damn thing all day long for business, school, mexican hat dancing. The wife's S3 lasts nearly a day and a half and she's on it about half the time. My friends who all have the Iphone4s have to charge it every 5-6 hours but they use it as much as I do. |

I love the Samsung Galaxy series of phones.. and I do mobile phone development for both iOS and Android.. so I'm pretty unbiased. In general I like the capabilities better in the Samsung phone as well as the physical device capabilities. Apps though work better in general on Apple devices for one simple reason, they're all targeted for an iPhone or iPad rather than numerous varieties of phones/tablets.
I would get this is the upgrade price was $99 |

I agree with you. I'm on it a lot too (as I was with my 4S) but i still tend to charge more frequently with the S3. |

I'm on an iPhone 4 and this will be my last Apple product regardless of what Apple brings to the table. Them constantly suing people and thinking that they own the world is the last straw for me. That on top of them constantly fixing jailbreaks in new iOS updates and locking us down with iTunes...
Once I see the new Windows phones and new Android phones I will be making a choice and moving over. I'm ready to actually feel like I own the device I paid for instead of having big brother watch over my shoulder and make sure I'm using it within his specifications. Samsung Galaxy S3 is an amazing phone and the only thing holding me back from getting it now is future devices coming out. |

It should be noted that the Sprint S3 is also $99 for new customers.

actually the battery difference is because of LTE. the 4S does not have that technology which is the biggest difference, the Iphone 5 likely will though

2: Few iOS apps do this already. 3: NFC is just a short-range radio protocol. Apple will back Bluetooth 4, which uses less power and connects faster than NFC. It also has the advantage of only needed 1 bluetooth chip in a phone rather than one bluetooth and 1 NFC. It will also allow mobile payments without rolling out expensive NFC stations. 4: There are a number of contact importing/exporting apps, even Verizon has their own. 5: iOS6 maps have been pretty impressive for me. Not sure if you have used iOS6 beta? 6: Nothing compared to Siri. 7: S3 does not have quad core, and doesn't matter much anyway. Every Apple phone ever released crushes the competition in performance. Here are some benchmarks when the 4S was released. http://images.anandtech.com/graph.../41612.png Biggest difference: Apple phones are not made of shiny, cheap plastic that look like they were sold in a toys-r-us. Edge to edge glass front and back, aluminum, stainless steel, etc. Looks like the iPhone 5 will have an aluminum unibody shell however. |
