on a side note; Random Read on the 240GB Intel 330 is slightly slower than the 180GB.

I have this drive booting from external in my iMac, no issues so far.

Would you guys recommend the samsung 830 over the sandisk? I have a staples 25 off 75 code so the sandisk could potentially be ~50 bucks but I'm more concerned about quality and reliability more than the cost

there seems to have been sandisk issues with firmware not actually having active trim but that is being fixed in a soon to be released firmware updgrade....other than that minimize your outlay and go with sandisk extreme.....save a few dollars by using cashback at your favourite site usually 4 to 5 per cent on the before price match price as staples will simply credit you back...but ensure amazon is in stock before you buy as if out of stock when you phone or price has changed no go...
