what's the maximum number of 3.5HD it can take? Will it take 5 HD drives? Does it have enough SATA and power cables for it? How about external SATA option? For $150, it's cheap.
CPU - $30 250HD - $20 2GB RAM - $10 MB - $50 Case - $50 My only concert is its PSU. Is it standard? My HP EX475 just died, I don't want to spend a lot to get a new PSU. It'll be around $80 or so. I might end up building a server by myself. |

I bought the Gigabyte version [newegg.com] when it was on sale for $25 AR. |

1. According to this http://wiki.nothing.sh/page/%C9%D...MX130%20S2
Looks like it's a standard ATX PSU. 2. Here is the low profile eSATA bracket in case anyone wants for $5. Anyone can get a cheaper bracket? http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-co...file+esata You can upgrade CPU to any AM3+ (like Quad/Six Core, don't go for extreme powerful one due to heat) 4 slots RAM will take non-ECC (possible POST pause) or ECC, onboard 6 SATA ports max 4 of 3.5" HD. Low profile card only (1 PCI, 1 PCIe 16x, 2 PCIe 1x) like video card upgrade, gigabit lan card standard ATX PSU (this is key, I have HP EX475, it uses special HP PSU, it's quite expansive for $80) The lowest price it hit was $140. http://slickdeals.net/f/4943940-F...0AC-Newegg This is an awesome box. I upgraded to FX-6100 6-core, 16GB of RAM ESXi 5.0 with 12 virtual machines. This is an unbeatable ESXI virtualization "home lab" server Last edited by webjock; 09-11-2012 at 12:55 PM.. |

Can you confirm 1. Is the PSU standard ATX format? I hope yes. 2. Does it take non-ECC RAM? I guess yes. 3. Does it come with any eSATA bracket? I guess no. 4. To install 4 HDs, do I need to buy any extra accessories? I hope no. Thx. |
