If you are going to hand wash they are great but if you are going to put them in the dishwasher definitely pass.

Isn't melamine the stuff that got added in to chinese baby foods that caused a rash of deaths by crystal-precipitate nephrotoxicity? I know that the dishes have been around forever without much problem... but if they're low quality...
