Nintendo’s marketing vice president has insisted that fresh Wii U supplies are incoming to alleviate the new console bottleneck, promising “a great quantity” though warning that shortages may still be on the cards. “Demand has been phenomenal” Scott Moffitt told Forbes, though declined to give any specific sales figures, only highlighting the sell-out presales and insisting that there will be more Wii U units than there were Wii consoles at the older model’s launch.

I returned 1 deluxe I had ordered from walmart.com a week ago. So do all these returns just make it back on the shelves as new units.

I think so. I have yet to see any Wii us being sold as open box in stores or online. This is probably the reason Wii u deluxe units are in stock online almost everywhere now.

Wow the market really tanked on these. I listed mine at cost on craigslist and didn't even get one inquiry. I also see others that have listed the deluxe plus Mario U for only $350. I guess I'm gonna have to swallow my pride and start returning these.

can't you return them all to the same WalMart?

I returned all but one black set, which I'm still not sure whether I should keep it, or return and re-buy later.

have a huge backlog of Xbox games from Microsoft store black Friday sale.
I also have a huge xbox/ps3 backlog. If I were you, I would return it. They are on shelves everywhere and people are returning them. Chances are, you should be able to score a open box in Jan or Feb for less than $300.

dang the return process @ WM was quite tedious. The lady took out the console from each box and cross verified the serial number. To return 3 consoles and 3 games it took like approx. 25-30 mins. I have like 8 more to return. BTW, I was only offered to either refund back on my cc or store credit. I just took the cc option. Need to stop by another WM later today to return another 3 or 4. What a PITA this Wii U deal has turned into !
Yeah they did the same thing when I returned 2 x 19.99 printers.. lol. one was unsealed.. but she opened it to verify.. lol. Then she gave me cash back as the refund.. because she pressed the wrong button instead of going back on my creditcard LMAO

I tried to returned my 3 basic to TRU on Thursday morning.
The lady checked inside of the box and even asked the manager for approval.
By the time she is done, it had been already 30 minutes since I got into the store.
And the time came.. she said NO ENOUGH CASH!
So I took all my wii U's and headed home.

I went back to same TRU around 3:15 pm on the same day.
I waited about 15 minutes on line, the another lady checked inside, and she said NO ENOUGH CASH!!LMAO
I explained that I was there in the morning and I would not coming back again to return those items.
So she just called manager and got enough cash to give me refund.
If she can do so, WHY she didn't do so at beginning?

This is the worst resell experience ever....

Oh, one more thing. At one target, the employee scanned same serial number for two receipts, so I couldn't make return at another Target. I have to go back to the Target store which made the mistake!

I hope I won't have anymore story to tell you guys.... LMAO

Perhaps, hopefully this experience will teach some people that it isn't "reselling" when you buy an item at RETAIL price and pay sales taxes then try to "scalp" said item for more money hoping it is sold out.

If you really want to be a "reseller" get a reseller's tax ID, buy directly from the company at cost or through their wholesale distribution system without paying sales tax then be a reseller of products. Likely the majority of people that did not get a Wii U on release day were because of the 10s of thousands that were bought just to try to make a quick buck on ebay or craigslist.

Pretty sad these days, do people not really work normal jobs 8+ hours a day to where this $20-$50 scalping would be meaningless when they have to invest 2+ hours into it and who knows how long waiting outside, picking up, pre-ordering etc.

Actually, this was potentially a highly profitable endeavor, and I think you're missing the point. Most of the people buying these don't want to become "resellers" as you define it. That is obviously a very involved process.

Agreed 100% on #6 which states:

"6. Reselling: Another simple process for fraudsters: purchase, sell elsewhere, return unsold. In this case, the retailer is being used for free inventory."

^ This drives up prices to everyone (consumers) because retail stores normally can't sell an item that's been returned opened as new and have to discount it. Yes it is the cost of doing business but excessive returns actually hurts everyone, and it just isn't the right thing to do.

Uh huh... great advice from someone who has wasted 1.5 days on this website in the past month. Bitterness seems to come a lot easier from those who aren't truly happy with their own lives. Perhaps the time you spend on this website would be better spent in the gym? Maybe take a pottery class or something, make your life feel fulfilled. You really appear to be a sad person. Frown

Going on this site and making feeble attempts to climb on top of the long-broken down soapbox doesn't seem to be helping your self-image.

Gym? I play tennis 2 days a week and go on runs and walks with my wife usually 3 days a week I'm 5'11" 180lb fit enough. Also my PC stays on and the website is usually open, doesn't mean that the 5 minutes a day I read or look at the frontpage for some slickdeals turns into 36 hours lol.... I'm very happy with my life thanks for your concern. Big Grin wave

Yet you feel the need to continuously bring others down... lying to us isn't good. Lying to yourself is worse, my friend. Perhaps your wife has noticed?

I would encourage you to seriously take a look at what's bugging you, get to the root of it, and then you may come back and express your opinions on deals here without being a troll about it. Or better yet - find a thread dedicated to those who hate others that resell Wii U's and chat it up with them. I'm sure you will all have a great time together.

I am glad the scalpers and the fraudsters couldnt make a fast buck on the WiiU. This place is called Slickdeals, and when you go and buy 10 WiiUs in an attempt to cash in on the demand to make a lousy $20-30 per system, you are the lowest scum there is. Let the people who are interested buy first, Capiche?
GO Nintendo!
