11/20 @ 11pm PST - Toys R US and Target Deals are still in effect. New stock is expected for Black Friday and before Christmas with at least one poster mentioning their Target is getting more shortly.

Nintendo’s marketing vice president has insisted that fresh Wii U supplies are incoming to alleviate the new console bottleneck, promising “a great quantity” though warning that shortages may still be on the cards. “Demand has been phenomenal” Scott Moffitt told Forbes, though declined to give any specific sales figures, only highlighting the sell-out presales and insisting that there will be more Wii U units than there were Wii consoles at the older model’s launch.

I returned it to target return desk. My was a straight-up purchase, so I went in and got my credit card credited right away. Took about 30 seconds.

Can I ask you expersts what is the real problem with Wii U? I am thinking of gifting one to my friend's son (8 years old) but would like to know if it is any better than wii or I will gift him something else! Thanks for the replies!

There's not really a problem...I just think Nintendo has lost its way into becoming the top video game console seller. Ever since their Nintendo 3DS came out, they have been bleeding money and not coming up with some new intuitive games that are fun. The Mario games for the Wii U is pretty repetitive as well as for the 3DS. I'm honestly hoping for Nintendo to succeed.

The difficult part is how to integrate their system into something that can be enjoyable for the next couple of years. The motion controls are a bit of a gimmick and get boring pretty fast.

What good is a console if there aren't really any good games to play on it? I remember the last decent game to come out for the original Wii was Zelda Skyward Sword, but before that I don't recall having any good exclusives. The only good exclusives were the Zelda series, Mario series, Super Smash Bros, and Mario Kart series. Everything else was meh.

As for the 8 year old, I'm sure he will be happy with a Wii U. I wouldn't consider it like the best console out there, or the best launch console that was innovative and new.

No problem. I also think that with the iPad and iPhone games, they're eating away at Nintendo's sales. Both are using touch screen based and motion based controls, so the main selling point of Nintendo isn't really innovative and new. Both also can watch movies on Netflix, Hulu, so right now it seems to be very hard for Nintendo to make their console as an extremely hot item when Apple's iPad can already compete.

The iPad games are really cheap- about $1-$5 and they're pretty enjoyable to play on for kids as well as being portable. It all depends on what the 8 year old likes.

Also, the Xbox 360 and PS3 are much cheaper and can also play most of the games Wii U has to offer, so this makes everything much more difficult. I'm waiting for the next generation Xbox and Playstation, so we'll see next year how gaming is evolving.

I'm not saying the Wii U is a terrible console. In fact, it's pretty good. I'm just worried about how futureproof this system is and the long term playability. I bought the Wii when it came out in 2006 and it's been collecting dust for a very very long time. It was only enjoyable for the first three years when the good exclusives were more often released.

Yup, thinking about that, ipad 2 costs around $400 and wii u is $350. Ipad will be a much better gift than wii u, IMO! Thanks for that idea though!

It looks like you just missed a really good deal though. Walmart was selling the iPad 3 for $400 just recently. I think it is sold out though now and hard to get. iPad 3 is much better than iPad 2 with a lot more processing power and that Retina display.

Maybe check out refurbished iPad 3's from Apple's website? I don't think iPad 2 is worth $400, especially when iPad 4 has been released and only costs $500.

give it a shot, but most likely you will need a manager to override it so you can return it in store or need to call walmart and fight with them to return it on their dime.

My wife and I both returned one preorder each. For mine I had no problems. For hers, the CRS she got didn't even attempt a return after looking on the receipt for the purchase date. He says he has to talk to a manager. Does so and comes back saying he can't return it. She reminds him of the holiday policy and asks the manager to come over. Finally he says okay.

Keep in mind, no manager override key was needed. It was the initial CSR that was blocking the return without even attempting to scan the receipt.

Good luck dealing with them. I'll never buy another product from Walmart again. It's too frustrating dealing with their, mostly, dumb as rocks employees.

Ah so you used Walmart's inventory which is scamming the retailer which both you and your wife were into but then it is Walmart's fault because you couldn't scalp these Wii Us for a profit? So that's why you'll never buy from Walmart again? Hilarious. Anyone reading your "I'll never buy another product from Walmart again" knows this isn't a reality especially if they have another item you can scam using their inventory for free and try to scalp. Oh and they accepted both of your returns anyway...... Yet you still complain amazing.

To be honest, Walmart is actually really liberal with their return policies. If you tried this at another retailer, and tried to return past its actual return date allowance, they will not let you. There have been many posts in this thread already about the return not being allowed as holiday return policy. It's your fault for not reading through the thread or checking on their policies when you made the purchase.

I was planning on keeping one of my Wii U's anyways so if I couldn't return the Walmart one, I would just keep it.

You guys had me worried about my wii u returns at walmart. I had no problems..it did take time scanning each system then controller then the game.. then repeat. Each item had to be refunded seperate but no static from the girl behind the counter.

Oh, each box was opened to be sure all was in there.. and now that i think about it.. Target didn't look in any of the seven wii u's i took back there.
