Why did my Iphone 5 bill just increase by $14 vs iphone 4?

So I'm currently paying $31.24 a month for iphone as part of family plan. I get 2 gb a month in data from $25/mo package, which I don't go over. I get unlimited texts through shared text plan.

Tried pre-ordering iphone 5 and saw that monthly fee for my portion of family plan is $45.50.

Looks like there's no shared unlimited text plan ($20/mo)
Looks like I have to upgrade Data plan to 3gb, which costs $30/mo instead of $25/mo.

you should be able to keep your current plan.. I had a similar issue when I went from the 3gs to 4s.

I'm guessing because it's 4G now. Iphone 5 isn't worth it to me and I'm a big apple guy. I have the 4s and am happy with the 3G. No need to get new docks etc. Apple slipped with the new pin.

Yeah...surprise...AT&T did away with the 2gb data plan for $25/mo. The closest thing to it is the 3gb data plan for $30/mo. Not only is it more expensive, but it is NOT eligible for corporate discounts.

Mind you ANY iPhone user (not necessarily iPhone 5) will be subject to the change.

In my case I had 2 lines I started in Dec 2011 that got the old 2gb data plan, but when I started this new 3rd line in July 2012, the changes were already in effect. I called and gave them an ear full. It was a foreign person I could barely understand so I'm sure it didn't do much good. Either way, I got a $50 credit on my account for the trouble.

In regards to the other 2 lines, they said those were "grandfathered" at this point. I didn't specifically ask if they would get bumped to the new 3gb plan with a device change, but that sounds like what happened to you.

I would call and complain. Maybe you can get back the old plan, but I wouldn't hold your breath. Afterall, this is AT&T. I can't wait until my contract ends.

Yeah, call & talk to the rep but be prepared to fight and/or be disappointed. AT&T uses new contracts as a time to eliminate the old plans they don't like anymore, like unlimited data. As long as you don't change your phone or your plan, they let you stay 'grandfathered' into the old plan. But once you want to upgrade your equipment, that's the opportunuty they take to make you start a new contract on THEIR terms.

id go back you can't beat 31.24. buy a new IPhone out right and save..
