Delta gold Skymile - 70,000miles and 100 statement credit after 5000 in 6 months

Yeah +1 for staying away from Delta Skymiles. Unless you're just going to get the card, cancel the card right away and use the miles I'd not waste your time. Domestic flights costs 2-5 times as much as Southwest or other Air Lines, and International flights often have to go through their partners so you 1. can't search a calendar view for availability but have to put in specific dates one a at a time only to find out there are no flights available and 2. have to plan your trip 331 days in advance otherwise the few 2 or so seats they have available using points will be taken.

If they had their crap together for searching flights and you could pick any flight they had available and use your points this might be worthwhile.

with delta you will have a hard time to get 2 tickets with 70k miles.. $100 does sweeten the deal some..

Is this for a new card or to add miles to an existing one?

you are right . when compared to AA .. for 80k i got to tickets to south america that would cost $3200 cash...

depends...how many inquiries do you have? Your score is indeed high, but its the # of inquiries they also look at....

+3, Delta Sky Pesos are much more difficult to use. I just spent 40K UA miles to fly to Hawaii, and then 68K Sky Pesos for another Hawaii trip.

Never mind, saw that the delta purchase has to be done within 3 months, and it seems to be independent of the other 45000 miles

I already have Delta Skymiles Option Card. Do you think If i apply this gold card I am still eligible to receive this 70,000 miles ? Please advise !!!

There was an article in the WSJ about a study of 23 international airlines, showing that Delta was literally dead last, in terms of how easy it is to redeem miles. Somehow I was not surprised.

i do agree that delta is fast becoming skypesos but it's still a spanking good deal for moi for travel to southeast asia. 80K flights were pretty much available in feb/march and september/october of 2012. 70K means i only need to transfer 10K from my million points of amex for an economy flight.

Yea, but that assumes you need credit for something... I just lump any apps together, and then go through a quiet period.

The pulls don't bring my credit down badly at all, as it's high enough to not be bothered.

That said, I did also get the email approval, so this is a little different, the approval seems to not be instant in this case, they email about 10-60 minutes later if you're approved.
