I don't think that will impact the people who would be interested in playing this game in the least.

There's a lot of ambiguity about what they actually mean by the project. I'd really like some demo screens to see what they had in mind in terms of layout and graphics. They did do Fallout NV which is a modern FPS RPG. If they mean that this will be more like Dragon Age, then it could be pretty good. If they mean that it's gonna a game with graphics that look like they're from 2000, then it will be less good. So that's the issue I see.

They aren't clear on whether they intend to use modern graphics or if they're just rehashing same old formula from earlier games.

450 grand and the day isn't over. Damn. Hope this will be as good or better than the latest Isometric view RPG's. (KoA, DA2, etc.)

Honestly, I don't care if the graphics look like they're from 2000. Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 are still as fun as they ever were, even if the graphics are dated. However, Obsidian has been around the block and are no doubt going to make the game to modern graphic standards. It's going to be an isometric, overhead camera like the original Infinity Engine games, so it won't look like Fallout:NV, but it will be pretty enough. They are using their Onyx engine most likely, so think of something along the lines of Dungeon Siege 3 graphically, except with a higher camera angle and more zoomed out to accomodate party-based strategic combat rather than a click-fest.

In any case, I donated, I've been waiting for a new BG (or at least spiritual successor) for a decade now. DA1 scratched the itch a little bit, but I'm even more excited about this.

over $600K in the first day (probably going to hit 700k before the day is over), maybe this is a wake-up call for those 'publishers' who think that every PC game needs to be a first person shooter now.
