Many within the Obama administration believe that Israel will launch a pre-emptive strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities before the US presidential elections, an act which would signal the failure of one of Washington’s key foreign policy objectives.

This seems like a no-brainer for Netanyahu. If he intends to strike Iranian reactors, what better time than when three US carrier groups and a bunch of Brits sit between Iran and Israel. Just hit Iran enough to provoke a response and then sit back and watch the show.

China has several trade agreements with Iran... It would mess up things for China economically... So they will push back any agression towards Iran... Russia has a military naval presence in Syria... Putin already said to Israel and NATO... "If you cross this line in Syria, Russia's nukes are going to fly at Israel and the U.S."... Obama knows Russia and China will nuke Israel and the U.S. if they move any further on Syria and Iran. Netanyahu is completely insane. He's on a death wish. Even members of Israeli intelligence quit over this.

This is perfectly timed right in the middle of the election. Make no mistake about the timing. Late October is my guess when they attack. The Mid East video that is so controversial was designed by Israel to inflame and distract everyone.

All this and Obama IMO is getting "Carterized" just like Carter, in his term an embassy get stormed hostages taken, and a briefe mid east skirmish breaks out.

In that case it was Regan, in this case it will be Romney, gets elected and its a repeat of Regans election.

Or this could all 180 on itself and make the President look more Presidential, The Embassy uproar clams down, as it seems to be. Muslim Brootherhood calling off protests. And Obama refuses to send troop in. To Join England and Israel, believe me they can more than handle it.

We won't capitalize... It's all about Israel destroying the entire region and then rebuilding it... Using the U.S. military to do their dirty work for them... But Russia and China won't let that happen... I predict a standoff similar to the Cuban missile crisis in 1962... a game of chicken that Israel and the U.S. will lose...

I agree. I also think it may play out that way. However I think what was most damaging to Carter was the duration of the crisis before the election. The duration of the hostage crisis made it clear Carter was completely impotent to resolve it.

Israel cannot afford to suffer fools lightly. It may be that Netanyahu will decide the US Presidential election by what he does or does not choose to do and when.

How beautifully ironic it would be if Mr. Nobel Peace Prize rides a wave of patriotism to reelection by starting another war in the Middle East.

Those markets are manipulated... It wouldn't make a difference what happens in the Gulf... The hedge funds will drive the prices to whatever they feel like... probably up for now...
