Ooma Telo for $120 - Freee Shipping at OfficeMax

Is it not time now to switch to $15 per month SIM card based fixed mobile phones. I have GV on OBI and Local Phone as 2nd line with ALLVOI as my International calling line. Whenever I have WebEx session going on my VOIP goes down the drain and I need to have a separate line outside broadband or youtube effect.

I can stream Netflix at full HD 1080 without any effect on my Ooma service. I just have regular 10mbit down roadrunner.

Does anyone know how this works with an ADT security system. I have FiOS Digital Voice which supports ADT, but would love to cancel them and subscribe to OOMA to lower my bill.

Wife is just paranoid about having a security system, so I have to have some sort of phone connection to alarm system.

Most Voip don't support Home Alarm system.

For that, you may want to try this new Straight Talk Home Phone service which use mobile network.

You don't even need internet connection for this to work. Just need to make sure ADT support cellular dialer.

I think there is a way to go for a cheaper option on ADT. I too pay 25$s per month but trust me police comes way faster via Alarm company vs direct 911 call.

ADT was offering for 7$s a month Cell backup to me, that kind of indicates they may.

I have 6 cordless phones using my OBI (http://www.obihai.com/googlevoice.html) and they work great.

I have a free app on iPhone and can call using wifi!

I'm looking to ditch my landline. New to this and not very tech saavy. Read the wiki but can someone tell me why I would want the more expensive Ooma over the less expensive alternatives of either Magic Jack Plus or NetTalk Duo?

You don't need a computer to use the phone.

In retrospect, I think I should have tried the Nettalk Duo first before the OOMA because it is overall cheaper. However, the main reason I went with OOMA because it seemed more likely to support all 6 phones in my home. The USB powered Nettalk might not have enough juice to do it.

Not only can you check your voicemail from any telephone connected to Ooma but you can also check your Ooma voicemails remotely by calling your Ooma/home phone number (works like checking your cell phone voicemail). Google Voice also allows you to check your voicemail over the phone but you can only access new voicemails over the phone. To listen to older Google Voice voicemails, you have to check your Google Voice email. I wish Google Voice also provided traditional voicemail box services like Ooma or a regular cell phone voicemail box.

I have experience with both Ooma and Obi. I like and recommend both services but I think they are geared towards different people. I recommend Ooma for people who just want a straightforward, easy to set up home phone line that is very similar to traditional home telephone landline service. Obi with Google Voice is more flexible and useful for people who are more technologically savvy and who want all the extra features provided by Google Voice for free.

Dammit, $10 cheaper from when I ordered it.
