Not for gaming. Can be useful if you're a open browser tab and open program junkie or have specialized programs that can take advantage of 8gb.
I have 16gb, upgraded from 6gb in my laptop (plus an ssd). makes things smooth. My laptop processor is an A8-3530MX (allegedly x-fired with the onboard 6750M, but I haven't noticed much beneift), and the gpu portion does use the ram, so there is some benefit to extra ram in the AMD APUs.
still going with 8gb in my i5-2320 desktop (which has a discrete 7750), though $60 for 16gb is very tempting....
That's interesting, but how does saving a game work if you shut down? Or do you just leave it going 24/7? Or reinstall every time?
The RAM Disk will backup to your HDD/SSD and re-load after each reboot. It can make boot times a slower as a result. For reference, I don't have a RAM Disk installed currently but I have used them extensively in the past.
