How many posts and/or rep points do you have to have, before giving someone a rep gives them points?

I think it depends on how long they have been members and how active they are.

I believe it's after 50 posts, your reps that you give actually count towards the person's rep count.

you can trade them in for SD logo-d items

seriously though
50 posts and your reps "count": 1 for each year you've been here
50 reps and your name turns italic
100 reps and your name turns bold
The little colored dot near your rep count also changes from grey to dark green, green, etc etc and can also be red (negative) yellow or purple (very high rep count)

You guys sure about the "your reps don't actually give anyone a rep point until you have made 50 posts" thing? Is that still true?

I mean, I totally appreciate the wise advice, I just think I've gotten rep points from folks with less.

Yes, it's true. They show up for you, and you see them as grey reps, but they don't count towards your rep point number and never will.

I think it counts after they have been members for a certain amount of time, regardless of their rep count.

I have a question the red, green, grey dot.. I thought that it meant that if someone was online. Which is it?? I thought red was for invisible.

(Located at the bottom of a persons' profile)
Red Dot - Online, but in Invisible Mode
Green Dot - Online
Grey Dot - Off Line
