is this thing pocketable. I've never seen these camera's in person. Is it like lens in one pocket and the body in another then you have to put them together to take a picture if you plan on pocketing them? Or is it with the lens on the body it's only 1 9/16" width like the description says.

If you want a truly pocketable camera that approaches DSLR or micro 4/3 quality, look into the Sony RX100. |

Yeah, not at all pocketable, even with a tiny pancake lens.
The only current camera that delivers "big camera" results in a small package is the Sony RX100. That being said, this is a stellar camera with astounding IQ. Think D7000 quality in something about 1/3 the size. |

I still say...there are two classes of cameras: Those that fit in your pocket, and those that don't.
![]() Since this is the latter, it's not much better than a DSLR (and has fewer lenses to boot, and slower AF), unless you plan to use adapted manual legacy lenses. And in that sense, it's better than u4/3, which is smaller still yet not small enough. No VF and no flash is also a bit of a neg in my book. Here's an interesting comparison with a small DSLR A-55 (which goes for $400). It loses 0.4 stops due to the SLT mirror. Would be more telling to compare size and weight with the kit lens. http://snapsort.com/compare/Sony-...ny_SLT-A55 No intent to TC or say which would be better for you....just for the sake of comparison for those looking at unpocketable cameras. I almost got one to upgrade my u4/3 to use with some M42 lenses and my Minolta 58mm 1.2.

is it possible to have a DSLR/mirrorless that is ~1" or skinnier. I mean is it definitely going to be coming out soon or do we still have a long way to go. I 'am camera stupid as you can tell. I don't know if its physically impossible because of the lenses or we just aren't there yet.

The other overlooked item here in regards to size is that I can have this in my hands all day with little fatigue vs a much larger DSLR. |

dpreview has this rated higher on image quality and low light sensitivity than quite a few dslr's like Canon's T3i and Nikon's D7000. (Unless I'm not reading the "compare" box right, I'm just starting to look into good cameras)
My wife wants an entry-level DSLR but if this has better image quality than the T3i she has her eye on, and it's less expensive, than would this be recommended? |

The flash is an add on(http://www.imaging-resource.com/P...5FLASH.HTM) |
