$199.99 for a green laser and mount?!? Wow that seems like highway robbery when you can pick up good quality green lasers for ~$10 all day long then how much can a mount cost?

This isn't an airsoft toy.

Green lasers run much hotter internally than do red and are more technically complicated. The color spectrum that green uses is much more visible to the human eye than red is, including during the day. At night--it's like Obi Wan's using a green light saber.. Veridian makes probably the best green lasers out there, although Crimson Trace's green lasers for assault rifles are excellent.

Interesting how 'Crimson' trace is going green, eh?

I have a C5L (Laser with tactical light) and it fits on my Smith and Wesson M&P 40 caliber compact w/o protruding beyond the barrel's muzzle. It looks practically 'stock' and it has survived a good amount of abuse in south eastern Georgia's hot, humid conditions, even in rain and has (embarassed to admit) been dropped a couple times (magazines unloaded) while loading various gear.

Sure you can buy a cheaper one, but these last and if you have a problem beyond the one year warranty, they're likely to still back their gear--nice company to deal with--they've even custom modified stuff for me at no extra cost. They also sell a safety retention holster (manufactured by Blackhawk/Serpa) that alows your laser to be activated automatically as you draw your weapon.

You can shoot coconuts out of high trees in the brightest sunlight, using the laser to pinpoint the STEMS, that's how bright these things are.

All in all, a top quality, durable set up on a product you don't want to cut corners on.

And just think about the recoil on a gun if you've ever shot one. It's not just a mount it's a mount that can withstand more force than any mount you have ever used. Think about it for a second how much for does a single shot from a 40SW genrate into the mount and the laser. There is a reason most military optics be it scopes or lasers start are $500-$800. This ain't your car these are firearms!

I bought one of these a few months back for $5...they are not that complicated nor that expensive...

For $5, you won't lose the farm when it breaks--and I'm quite sure it will rather quickly. It got plenty of one star reviews and even most of the 'better' reviews are from people who just got it and I bet it'll be crapped out and in the 'junk drawer' pretty soon ,

Meanwhile, I'm putting 'holes' in the holes' of targets in the field and at the gun range,, switching the Verdian between the tactical rails on 45, 40 caliber and 9mm pistols, year after year.

I guess it's be fun to duct tape one of these $5 green lasers to an airsoft gun and see how it goes.....

I always considered a laser on a pistol a novelty item myself. I very much doubt it would help improve my shooting...
