Looks like they got a good deal on leftover 5dII kits but are having more trouble moving the lens compared to the body. Wouldn't be surprised to see them go even lower if they still have stock.
 Its possible Canon would warranty it, since the warranty card is likely included...but if they ask for your receipt, they'll know its not authorized. |

A very common misconception is that the warranty card means jack shit. The card is nothing more than a glorified registration card for Canon spam. All Canon asks for when you request warranty service is your serial number and proof of purchase. The myth of the warranty card proving the existence of a warranty is the source of so many auctions labeled as "deals" on SD and many eBay sellers misrepresenting their goods. I LOVE White Girls.

Good price on this lens and repped. But...
I would be very cautious about the warranty. $800 is a lot to spend on a lens that may or may not be gray market. Remember Canon has the final say-so on warranties. |

$700 would be a good price point. Even though the 5D Mark III burned a hole in my pocket, I'd buy it at $700 without thinking.

This lens is 100% brand new. •These are lenses that were originally packaged with Canon Camera Kits. We sold the Canon Kits in a quantity order, and we had simply removed the Lenses and placed them in their own box with all original foam packaging.These Lenses are limited quantity only. I asked last time and you do get a US Warranty card, but without a store receipt from an authorized dealer that doesn't mean much. |

At this point it should be pretty obvious that bigvalueinc has someone here at SD on the payroll. The SD main page is now basically a front for Akihabara side street/ New Jersey style open-box camera deals.
People who quote themselves probably shouldn't. If it were worth repeating someone else would do it.
I'm not too busy, I just don't care. At all. NO ASSPENNIES! |

So I was about to buy this lens along with the 60d via the loyalty program - meaning both items would be refurbished with a 90-day warranty. But would it make sense to buy the lens through this deal? In other words, if price is equal, which is better: refurbished from Canon or this lens ebay deal? Price is about five bucks difference, for the record.

With all those shipping charges, who's gonna pay for it? Last time I send a Canon lens to their warranty service they want me to pay out of pocket to ship it to them and pay for the return shipping. I HIGHLY doubt bigvalue will cover all those shipping charges, can be well over $200 + warranty fixing fee even if it's under warranty Canon still charge you a fee regardless. |

Just for the record, I own this lens. I bought it from big value inc a few deals ago. The lens is US model but it is a white box. There is a warranty card in the box but I never send those in anyway. It is just a stupid registration card. If anything happens to your lens you have to get it fixed. Having said that, think about how often that happens. I have never had to have a lens repaired and I have lenses that are from the 80's that I still use.
By the way this is a great lens. I like it a lot. I use it on a crop sensor and find that it functions very well as a walkaround lens. It is not a superstar in low light situations but then again it is not for that. "I cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg.
