Hey,

Quick, here's the deal...our CEO is on a flight for the next 5 hours and the team at Bucky HQ is taking over the site 'til he lands. We're all aware and grateful of all the support you've given us, and it's time to get in touch with our rebellious streak. Before his plane lands, we're marking down ALL products sitewide to thank you.

From 1-6 pm (EST) today, everything at http://www.getbuckyballs.com is just $5!

~Jamie

PS: Heads up, though: this is a balls-to-the-wall limited time offer, and is ONLY available between 1p-6p EST, during which our Customer Service Team may or may not be at the bar. Cheers!
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Starting April 2013, retailers are voluntarily recalling these products.

Please, please do make sure you take these magnets away from children and teenagers!

If you purchased online, the company has ceased doing business, but you can file a claim against the MOH Liquidating Trust.
The Proof of Claim form has a line for "Refund for retail or consumer purchase", but it is not clear how much you will get back.
Proof of Claim must be received 12/27/2022.

FYI (DO NOT DELETE THIS INFORMATION...this can be helpful for those who are not familiar with buckyballs), CPSC Sues Maxfield & Oberton Over Hazardous Buckyballs® and Buckycube™ Desk Toys [cpsc.gov]

"When two or more magnets are swallowed, they can attract to one another through the stomach and intestinal walls, resulting in serious injuries, such as holes in the stomach and intestines, intestinal blockage, blood poisoning and possibly death. Medical professionals may not diagnose the need for immediate medical intervention in such cases, resulting in worsening of the injuries."

WASHINGTON, D.C. - In an effort to prevent children from suffering further harm, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) staff filed an administrative complaint today against Maxfield & Oberton Holdings LLC, of New York, N.Y., alleging that Buckyballs and Buckycubes contain a defect in the design, packaging, warnings, and instructions, which pose a substantial risk of injury to the public. The Commission voted 3-1 to approve the filing of the complaint, which seeks, among other things, an order that the firm stops selling Buckyballs and Buckycubes, notify the public of the defect, and offer consumers a full refund.[/SIZE]

Same complaint also filed against Zen Magnets. http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prere...12243.html

Cheaper than previous FP deals for 125-piece sets by almost 50% by my calculation.

If you don't want these to be banned, SIGN THE PETITION AT SaveMagnets.com [savemagnets.com]

DO NOT BE SURPRISED IF YOU GET PHOTOCHROMATICS AND THEY ARE ROUGH IF NOT FLAKING RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. I GOT 3 SETS ORANGE BEING THE WORST, HAD TO SMASH THE WHOLE SET IN A BOOK TO SEPARATE THEM.

Since the HTTPS site is getting hammered, I used the regular HTTP site. It's loading much quicker now.

Almost sold out! as of 3pm pacific

Are any of you going to try to sell yours on ebay? And before someone says "you can't sell them on ebay", I will say that is not necessarily the case I saw some completed auctions for them a few days ago. I'm sure they would take down a 30 day listing eventually but they don't come down automatically. One guy had 10 sets and sold about 7 in one day...just curious if anyone is going this route.

Nope. If I end up selling mine, I'd do it elsewhere and avoid the scam artists that comprise PayPal.

Yes you do give up about 15% of sales with ebay/paypal combo. But not sure where else you would sell these. With CL, doesn't seem like people would be searching for them on there. But if the company goes out of business (likely), they may become collectors items of sorts so who knows. i should have bought more.

I don't refer to the fees involved. I refer to PayPal not being a bank and therefore lacking certain regulations and insurance, and their tendency to freeze accounts and steal funds for the fun of it. I trust them as far as I can throw them. Anyway, there are these things called "friends" and "colleagues". You don't need the internet to buy and sell stuff.

Collector's items? There are so many clones of these things. It's not like Bucky Balls are any higher in quality, judging by the low QC on the ones that I received.

Yeah and the same with Beanie Babies...dumb stuffed animals that sold for thousands of dollars just because people wanted them. I'm not saying these will be that much in demand but could go up in value a bit if they stop making them. It makes no logical sense but still it could be the case.

Ebay removed my auctions after less than 24 hours. They were regular 7 day auctions. I had mad interest in them too, multiple watchers and a few emails asking if I would sell them outright. Ebay is Ridiculous.

I agree with you, I have been selling on Ebay for 8 years and I couldn't tell you the # of times (over 3 selling accounts) that I have had PayPal put a hold on my funds because buyers file false claims and try to steal items (and money)! Thankfully I now live in a small town where I know the Post Office workers, so at least the cases where USPS does not scan the delivery confirmation upon delivery typically get resolved, but it is a pain in the butt.

Almost immediately the negative posts began... they charged my card without shipping......

It is ILLEGAL in many states to charge a consumer for an order prior to shipping it. That is why people were complaining about that.

As for the not shipping right away, that is just stupid.

You should have made them fixed price listings and priced them to move. You should have known there was no way ebay was going to let them sit up there for 7 days.
