This looks interesting, but I've been making banana "ice cream" for years in my blender or food processor. Just peel and freeze the bananas overnight. The next day, add the bananas and some milk into the blender and blend until smooth.
2 bananas to 1/2 to 1 cup of milk is the ratio I use. You can use any kind of milk (including soy, almond or rice.) |

I have to wonder if brown banana ice cream is really much better for you than traditional sugar and dariy ice cream....
A banana is going to have 100 calories or so, 14 g of sugar and if you eat the brown one they are even more sugary and don't even have the resistive starch value of green ones that counters their high carb/sugar count and only has 1 g of protein. 1/2 cup of double churned ice cream is about 100 calories, 11 grams of sugar and 3 g of protein. It has an inconsequential amount of salt and cholesterol and 4 grams of fat, and the banana comes out ahead in vitamin C.... So at the end of the day would you rather eat 1 frozen blended banana or 1/2 cup of double churned ice cream when it almost balances out? |

It's not just what you eat, it's how much of it you eat quite often. A serving of ice cream a few times a week is not going to do much bad to your health... but stuff yourself with bananas and grapes all week and watch what happens when those carbs go to town. In fact if you ate 1500 calories a day of just plain lard and someone else at 3500 calories of nothing but fruit and whole grains you would probably get skinny and they would get fat. You would be in horrible health, but you would be skinny. Really sugar is sugar at the end of the day... how it's delivered to your belly matters, but sugar is sugar. Our local grocery store has overripe bananas really cheap on a regular basis. You peel and freeze them, right? Whole or chopped?

The very process of ripening involves converting starch into sugar in fruit... that's why spoiled fruit is often VERY sweet... it's all been turned into sugar (and often on the way to turning into alchohol - this is a key part of how wine is made). http://www.livestrong.com/article...d-for-you/
