It's hard to avoid tax on this. If you buy direct from Google, there's tax. Staples, tax. Officemax, tax. Radio Shack, tax. Sears, tax. Best Buy, tax.

If you're in CA, then you get tax on Newegg too.

Amazon will never sell this direct because they have their Kindle Fire HD. Buy.com has it but no free s/h and no coupons, nada. Same with J and R.

It really is hard going any lower than MSRP on this thing, that tells you that Google is making no profit on the hardware itself. Which to me, makes it an awesome value!

I like your thinking especially for those who have lots of UR points which is better than cash out of pocket. I just did a similar deal but had some Land's End gift cards (still sale at 20% off points wise) at chase Ultimate Rewards.

This is a horrible way to spend your ultimate rewards points...

the "best" way to get one of these is from gamestop. I paid about $100ish out of pocket over the summer, (in addition to trading in 3 old ps3 controllers..2 launch sixaxis and one of the first dualshock3 ones... which at some point I paid for...but it was more than a few years ago). The method was a pain in the behind because you have to buy the games for cheap from bestbuy or somewhere else and manage to trade them for more. It ended up being very stressful and annoying because of the shenanigans gamestop palys with trade in pricing and promos. If you count time and gas I got the table for about 115 less than MSRP because I only paid tax on the 100 bucks worth of games and no tax on the tablet cause it was a gamestop funny money.. Basically cause I was having some issues that caused me not to be able to work a lot over the summer I had a looooot of free time so I turned the acquiring a nexus 7 into a mini job. My SD was def not for the faint of heart but the tablet is pretty kickass.

Yea by no normal means is avoiding tax or shipping on this easy. I think youll enjoy this. Make sure you check out the humble indie android bundles when they come out. I picked up the last one and played world of goo and anomaly warzone. Both are very good and look good on the screen.

I dont have the card but what is a better way to spend points? Usually getting something you like is a good idea...unless there is a trick to multiplying your points.

Last black friday you could cash out points for a minimum of 2 cents/point with purchases at best buy. If you're into travel, then transferring to hotel/airlines can provide 2-5+ cents/point.

I would gladly take them off your hands for 1.1 cents/point too if you're interested....

How do you exchange UR points to airlines/hotel "cash"?

But, aren't hotel/airline prices are jacked up so high, they can afford to exchange at a rate of 2.5c per point?

I was worried about that too, but Chase sent mine using UPS Next Day service, for free.

Oh yea and you can return the gift cards. I called Chase and made sure to cover my bases.
