You will need to reload the OS and applications. Be sure to get a 7mm thick SSD....9mm WILL NOT FIT! This is how I did it: Flip the netbook over so the bottom faces up. Pull the battery out. Remove the bottom cover screw (only one screw) towards the front. Slide the bottom off. Pop the original HD out. Unplug the connector from the HD Plug the connector into the new SSD. Pop the new SSD in where the HD used to be. Slide cover back on and install screw Install battery. Install new OS....I used a thumb-drive to install Win7 Home. Done! Purchase a good 7mm high (9mm WILL NOT FIT!) SSD. Get at least 120GB. |

Mine has a "blank" plug which pops out. RE:windows 7. You can buy the media or download it. The cost of the WIN7 license was included in your purchase price of the netbook. The OEM WIN7 product key is on a sticker on the bottom of the netbook. |

Posting for anyone that care, just got 2x4GB G.Skills ram and index at 4.7 from 4.4,
Processor 4.7, Ram 7.4 Graphic 4.9, Gaming Graphic 5.6, Primary Hard disk 5.9. Still waiting on SSD upgrade will have to wait till BF but this is improvement for sure no more stutter, good by puny 2gb OF RAM!! |
|
BTW, If you were holding off on getting this because of the lame network card (it says 10/100) -- it turns out the machine *may* have gigabit. Someone posted (on the Best Buy FAQ page) a screenshot on the showing Gigabit in Windows Device manager .
If anyone has this and wants to confirm, that would be awesome. Cheers! |
