Wow, great deal with ShopRunner. The 100mg of caffeine kills it for me though. Bummer.

That's the whole point of these preworkout drinks. If they didn't have any caffeine in them, they wouldn't do anything at all.





It cracks me up when people think they're getting creatine, BCAAs, NO2, etc from their "pre-workout" supplements. For starters, this particular product doesn't even list any of the BCAAs (leucine, isoleucine and valine) on the label, nor does it show NO2 (arginine) listed, so I'm not sure where you're getting that from. Even in the products that DO have those ingredients in them, they don't have remotely enough to make an impact (eg. you need at LEAST 3g of arginine to create vascular dilation, which very, very few pre-workout products contain). Secondly, this product has less than 2.8g of all the ingredients combined in their "proprietary blend", where as you need 5g of creatine monohydrate (the only form of creatine in the product) alone and at LEAST 1.5g of beta alanine alone to be effective.

Truth be told, almost every single pre-workout supplement that's out there right now is basically a glorified Red Bull. The only thing there is enough of in these products is caffeine (and other stimulants in some) to get you wired for the workout. That is IT. Almost none of them contain enough creatine, arginine, beta-alinine, BCAAs, etc to do anything. This isn't a theory or opinion. It's a mathematical fact. Look at the labels, and see what aaaaaall those ingredients are combining to add up to in their "proprietary blends". The grand totals usually don't come out to even being enough of ONE of those ingredients in an effective dose.

What I'm getting at is if you're taking such products because you need a kick in the butt from the stimulants to get going for a workout, that's fine. That's what they're for. However, please don't make the mistake of thinking "I'm taking creatine/NO2/BCAAs!!!" because you're taking one of these pre-workout products. if you want to get an effective dose of any of the IMPORTANT ingredients, you're best off buying them separately.
