No, you're dead wrong. The clause about "residing" in the areas of the offers CLEARLY refers to the small businesses and requires that they reside in the areas/zip codes, and not the customers.

If it were restricted to customers that live in the area, it would specifically state that, and it definitely does not.

Amex has done these promos with specific cities before and NEVER restricted them to people living in the area. People from all over the country got credits without a problem.

Nice, I missed out on this last time. Got four cards eligible!

Here are some things to note:
1. This does not start until September 29, 2012 (Saturday), so do not make your purchase until then. You will not receive a statement credit if it is prior to this date.
2. All American Express branded cards work. This includes Amex Gold, Platinum, Hilton Amex, American Airlines Amex, Starwood Amex, Macy's Amex, Bloomingdales Amex, etc. There are many others as well. Corporate cards are excluded.
3. You can register as many Amex cards as you have. You must spend $20+ on each card in one transaction to get the $20 statement credit. (This has always been the scenario in the past, so unless they've changed the way it is operated, you are good to go.)
4. You can use the same registered card to make a $20+ purchase in each participating location. However, you MUST register for each individual location. (Again, this has always been the scenario in the past, so unless they've changed the way it is operated, you are good to go.)
5. While they say the purchase must be made in store, if this works the same as other Amex statement credit promos, online purchases at smaller stores will work, BUT you must ensure that it is being processed through that stores location and it is not a 3rd party site that then places the order elsewhere (in a different zip code). Until the promotion starts, there is no telling what stores will actually work.

Questions : would it work with Amex Gold Businss and AA Citi Amex as well? AA Citi Amex didn't give me credit last time when they ran $25 Small business promotion...when I called in for that, I was told only Amex issued cards qualify for this. But I've been successfully using AA Amex Citi with all twitter/facebook deals.

Anyway, I've registered all these cards above and got my confirmations emails...waiting fro 29th now ;-).

FYI Staten Island is already closed - maximum enrollments reached. Found this out trying to register my boyfriends card. All other cities still open for cardholders.
