Looks like it is taking about 2 days for the email to come through regarding a successful amex promotion purchase. Ordered from espemporium on 10/2 and got the email this morning from amex. If this is the case, I should be getting confirmation for the ramen place tomorrow morning.

Looks like they sell gift cards, but shipping is $8 for ground. Could get $15 GC for $3 with shipping and Amex credit.

Too bad they don't do virtual GCs or let you combine your orders so you only have to pay shipping once.

I arranged something with cycleworks. It took a bit of leg work, so I wouldn't want to over burden them. For some reason they were unwilling to take the cards over the phone.

After talking with them this is what I did in order to use multiple cards for one order:
Order 4x $20 GCs + shipping charges using my 3 cards.
They promised to refund the $8 shipping charge.
I arranged to have them ship me some Brooks leather handlebar tape ($70+$10 shipping).

So far, I see pending charges that look like this:

I did another order over the phone with fifthseason gardening out of raleigh. Unfortunately, the CCs got processed with an address of one of their other stores in Carborro (invalid zip). I tweeted a Q to AskAmex, and they said to let them know if it doesn't credit within 5 days. I'll update on that as well.

Edit: Also note that the GCs are normally only redeemable in the store. So you will need to talk to someone ahead of time if you want to try this. I spoke with Valerie. I also called in an order to chicagowinemakers, I am still waiting to see that CC charge.
