The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and it's judging process is laughable. If Jann Wenner doesn't like a band, they will never get inducted. Which must mean he must really, really hate Rush. Some of the snubs and omissions are absolutely ridiculous.
However, I won't argue with anyone that the acts being inducted are typically influential and for the most part important to the history of rock and roll. Personally I have no desire to ever go to the actual Hall of Fame Museum. Jim DeRogatis once wrote an excellent article about how terrible the place is though. Makes me wish I had his book here with me so I could read that article again. |

And the Bee Gees? Abso-freekin-lutely. Whether you love or hate disco, the Bee Gees produced the best music of the genre. Unfortunately, their disco years have overshadowed their fantastic 60s work and 80s work. Heck, their album Odessa was essentially a progressive rock album, and You Win Again is, IMHO, one of the best songs ever written. Also, Barry Gibb is considered the second most successful song writer in history, after Paul McCartney. But, there are many bands who deserve to be in the HOF that are not. Especially... RRRRRRUUUUUUSSSSHHH!!! But also... YYYYEEEESSSS!!! and... Def Leppard Kiss Duran Duran Bon Jovi Judas Priest Pat Benatar The Cars The Moody Blues Boston Chicago Yusuf Islam/Cat Stevens Cheap Trick Chic (also the best of the disco genre) Electric Light Orchestra Iron Maiden (not holding my breath for this one) Jim Croce Journey Slade Ringo Starr Warren Zevon Three Dog Night |

rush sucks, their only good song sucks. most of those other groups you name, the average person on the street couldn't name a single song by, except journey probably. |

What's their definition of Rock & Roll with inductees like Neil Diamond, ABBA, Earth Wind & Fire, Madonna, Mammas and the Pappas, Prince, Hank Williams etc. etc.?
![]() I'm not saying any of them make bad music or don't have any good songs, but how can someone with half an ear categorize any of the above as "Rock & Roll"? Just call it the Music Hall of Fame, but even that can be argued. Either way, I'm sure Anthrax and Slayer will be inducted to the Country Hall of Fame.
