After changing heatsink core 0 at 16 and core#1 at 31
Hi,I have Abit ip35 Pro with E8400. I had the original heatsink and now changed to Hyper 212 EVO. Both of my cores have very different temperatures. One has 16 degree and other one at 32 degrees. Any idea? |

The temperature reading is wrong. 16C reading is too low for any processor unless the machine's ambient temperature is nearly freezing.
Get other temperature monitoring tools as well as check the readings in BIOS. It's normal for two cores with different temperatures and work load. |

OP, have you looked into core usage? Maybe your system is pegging one core more than the other resulting in the higher temp.

I cleaned the old thermal both the times, and before I re installed I checked the thermal paste was correctly installed. Then I removed that thermal paste and put new one.
It looks weird that both the times the first core has 16 and second core has 31. How come the temperature is not changing from morning to night etc and first time install vs second time install. I also want to know that in my BIOS I just see the CPU temperature, I do not see the temperature per core.. I also checked the CPU usage in the task manager and the usage is same for both the cores.. |

try to use core temp software http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/

That would make it......roughly 61* Farenheit. I *could* see that being the case, with fans blowing air across it. Could that core completely shut itself down if not being used? Though one would think that it would kick back on more often if that were the case. Otherwise your processor is running pretty inefficiently.
Try downloading Prime95 and running it for awhile, while monitoring the temperatures of the cores of the CPU. See if it shows the other core kick on and start warming up. http://files.extremeoverclocking.....php?f=205 |
