Samsung Pre-owned 3D Blu ray, Built In Wi-Fi player $36 Cowboom

Almost pulled the trigger but has a lot of major "software defect" reviews. A no-go.

i think it is safe to say that if this player was worth a $hit it wouldn't be on Cowboom "pre-owned"...

Stay away from Samsung if you plan on using it for Netflix. I have a feeling there will be lots of refurbed Samsungs. I made a contribution myself.

I picked this up the last time it was on sale at Cowboom. I only wanted a cheap Blu-Ray player from a good company. It plays movies very well and the unit I got (picked up a "6") looked very good and even came in the original box. Playback was fast and responsive. HOWEVER, I briefly played around with the online menus and had it connected to a decent wi-fi connection (which it maintained well). The reviews are spot-on - menu transitions are slow, opening apps is painful, and everything not related to Blu-Ray playback was frustrating. However, if you are like me and want a good Blu-Ray player and don't care about the rest, this is certainly better than a cheap player.

Quick edit: The biggest selling point for me was the slot-load disk drive. I wanted something that I could vertically mount behind my TV mounted on the wall and finding a slot-load Blu-Ray player has been difficult. This unit is large and heavy, much larger than I imagined, but I guess I was thinking about that other Samsung player that is smaller. When I started looking at what I would need to get this thing mounted, I finally decided to keep my cheap DVD player mounted behind the TV (for the kids) and put this away in a closet and pull it out when we had a non-kid movie to watch.

I am not sure if I am just having bad luck or these units are truly bad from hardware to software. I took advantage of this deal the first time Cowboom had it listed a little over a month ago. I was shocked to see a grade 8 and ordered it right away. It arrived with significant dings and scratches but I was ok as it would be hidden on the side of the TV. The unit would play regular DVDs perfectly but would say no disc when I used a BluRay. Cowboom was great and sent me another one but this time it was a grade 7 with the remote. I was shocked when I opened the box. Everything looked brand new. I plugged the unit in and started watching a BluRay. 15 minutes into the movie, it would shut down. I tried Netflix, 15 minutes or so into watching a movie, it would shut down. It would only shut down when it was playing something. Well, I am waiting for my 3rd to arrive with fingers crossed that this will be the last one. Cowboom's customer service has been fantastic. We just need to get a product that works.

It says Remote not included in Grade 6 and 7 too. Did you guys receive a remote?

bad review + $10 shipping + tax kills the deal...
I was going to buy it this morning. There were a few 8 and a lot of 7 with remote and cable.

It varies from each unit to unit...

thye just put some more on there, was able to get a 7 , only missing AV cables and HDMI cable

Samsung and Cowboom.. definitely a bad combo.

I had terrible experience getting physically broken "factory Refurbished" Samsung 3D player from TD..

Staying away.. lol
