That actually sounds like the better thing to do if you are going to use the drill bits often.
FYI, the cobalt drill bits are rated for up to stainless steel and are listed under the industrial bits on the Dewalt website.
I've used the heck out of my cobalt drill bits, they just keep going and going. Everything from 1/2" aluminum to thick automotive sheetmetal to thick hardwood to drilling out broken studs in a deep oil sump.
Thanks for the info. I cancelled my order now. Can you recommend a link for the driver set? The main think I liked about the OP post was the drill bits and the carrying case, but I guess I can get over the carrying case, as long as the drills don't snap.
I'm not as particular about my driver bits. Honestly, if I don't put them in the case right away after using them, they get lost, so I tend to just buy cheaper ones. I don't need 7 sizes of flathead and 7 sizes of philips bits. The sets are more useful to me when they include a nice Torx and security bit assortment. Just like the drill bits, it all depends on what you're going to use the stuff for. Drill bits are worth spending more on, because it's very frustrating to drill with dull bits, it takes longer and usually makes a messier job when the bit tip walks instead of grabbing. It's just like trying to prepare ingredients in the kitchen with a dull knife.
Calling it "professional" and then including black-oxide bits instead of titanium or cobalt is a bit of a joke. If you're drilling the occasional piece of wood, this is fine. If you're drilling often or drilling metal, put your money towards the Dewalt titanium or cobalt drill bits.
Add on a driver set for $15. Yeh, a few dollars more than the offer in this thread, but you'll get drill bits that will actually last much longer and not snap as easily.
