Heads Up: I got an email from Amex directed to small businesses saying that they will again be having SBS on Nov 24, 2012.

Information is limited for now, but here are the highlights:

$25.00 statement credit

"We are helping customers find you by placing all American Express small merchants on an online map so they can shop small at your business."
The map feature sounds like it will eliminate confusion over what businesses qualify for the offer. I'm not sure if they've had that in the past or not.

This has been posted in hot deals in past years, so that's where I put it again.

$25 statement credit occurring as soon as Mon., 11/26/12! Cool

1. Registration
Register here (direct link): https://enroll.amexnetwork.com/US/en/SBS2012/
if it doesn't work, go through here:https://www.americanexpress.com/u...hop-Small/ and click on 'Enroll now'...

You should receive a confirmation email (Thank you for Enrolling for the Small Business Saturday(R) Offer) if your registration was successful. Save the email until you receive your $25 statement credit. After you decide which small business you will shop at (see Amex eligibility criteria #4 and 5 below) save (use prt sc and Paint program or other method) proof this small business is on Amex's list (see ShopSmall.com)--as last year when some members did not receive credit Amex told them the business they used was not eligible (by that time Amex had already removed the list for some locations).

Only CC will work. Gift cards, Prepaid cards including Serve, Bluebird, etc... will not work.
Serve cards are NOT eligible. I enrolled my MACYS American Express successfully.

There is an article about this here:
http://www.moneytalksnews.com/201...dium=email

Find your answer from last year's thread:
http://slickdeals.net/f/3389736?v=1

Authorized users may get separate 25$
For example:
http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=53310006&postcount=1402 (not sure why s/he did not start a new thread)
http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=45454094&postcount=1308
http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=44192498&postcount=195

2. Determining which merchants are eligible for the $25 credit

Eligibility Criteria for $25 Credit (as of Nov 18):
4. Qualifying small business locations are those identified on the Shop Small® Map, available at ShopSmall.com. In addition, small business locations that accept American Express through Square also qualify and can be found on the Square Directory at https://squareup.com/directory/?cmpId=amex. Small business locations that do not appear on the Shop Small® Map or that do not accept American Express through Square will not qualify for the $25 statement credit offer. Please note that business location information provided on the Shop Small® Map and Square Directory may contain inaccuracies or errors, including as a result of information provided by third parties. Transactions with political campaigns or political action committees are not eligible, regardless of whether they appear on the Shop Small® Map or in the Square Directory.
5. If American Express does not receive information that identifies a transaction as having occurred in-store at a qualifying small business location, the transaction will not qualify for the statement credit. For example, the following transactions will not be eligible for the credit: transactions made using an electronic wallet or any other transaction made through a third party; and transactions not made directly with the merchant.

6 Regarding the SQUARE only from point #4; Noted from the second link near top, when clicked note disclaimer below the enroll button and map
"Small business locations that accept American Express through Square also qualify for the $25 statement credit offer but may not appear on this map. For information about small business locations that use Square, please visit the Square Directory"
This means they accept Square transactions also not only

The search function on Amex's website to find small businesses in your area does NOT work as one would expect. It searches for businesses that BEGIN with your search term. For example, if you search for "wireless" it will return stores that begin with wireless like "Wireless Shop" and "Wireless City" but it won't find a store that's named "City Wireless".

Do NOT rely on the shopsmall site to give you accurate information. Around my area there are a number of Chinese restaurants listed that do not accept Amex. I don't know why they're on there then - maybe they used to take it. Be sure to call the location you are planning on visiting to see if they accept AMEX cards. It would suck to get there, have a nice meal or whatever and then get turned down on using your card.

Free Gas. Check to see if your local Gas station is listed on the Amex Map. Confirmed my local Shell is on there. Make sure to go inside and have them charge at least $25. Woohoo!

PLEASE add ONLINE OPTIONS here:
None so far... apparently

3. Determining if your transaction was eligible for the $25 credit
- Verified 2012. It has been reported on this board that you will get an email confirmation from AMEX after a successful and eligible $25 purchase
- Verified 2012. It has worked for Authorized Users cards as well, with confirmation email
- Verified 2012 The following co-branded AMEX have received confirmation email: Fidelity (FIA), Virgin Atlantic (BoA), PenFed Travel Amex, Macy's AMEX, Bloomingdale's AMEX PLEASE ADD MORE TO THE WIKI IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED CONFIRMATION

If you have co-branded AMEX and did not receive credit, please edit this part of the wiki on how to contact AMEX to fix it.

Example of email confirmation

Title: Thank you for Shopping Small
Text: Thank you for using your enrolled Card ending in XXXX and for supporting Small Business Saturday

Email confirmations can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few days. Sometimes, you may never get an email, but you will still see the 25 dollars credited on your statement. So, relax people! According to multiple posts on Nov 24 (Sat), the AMEX email system was down. However, on Nov 25 (Sun), multiple people have reported receiving the email for all their cards...

Ace hardware just admitted, its billing company had a power outage on 11/24/12. So, the purchases did not post for that day. The owner of my local store seemed concerned after learning that our Amex cards are synced to that original date. This is major news. i had a meltdown on the phone about his company posting the trans. Date, 11/26/12.

Could be the the dirty secret for others, also
Well, I ended up making 14 dollars on this deal.

Since Ace posted on the wrong date, I went and returned the items today for a full refund. I had used the 50% off up to $30 item, but the return credited me the entire amount. So, free money is mine!

Good for you! For the trouble, gas and your time, u deserve a bonus!

Sad, chain of events!! I didn't want to take The 600 amp jumpbox back since i had a $15 rebate on it!!! So, at best, i'll profit $3.75 vs. Paying, $36.74. I need the box so i pressed Dillard's Amex. They were being hardaased but ill wait for the one-time adjustment. A-hole customer service but Costco was easy to fix with a secure, site message and a receipt upload to open.com. Next year, ill be very alert...

Wasted a few hours on this fiasco!

I still haven't received the credit on my card yet. Their secured message is a joke. No respond after several attemps. Calling in doesn't help either as they have no idea about amex promotion. I think my problem is even though I made the purchase on 11/24, it didn't get posted till 11/25.
Post date doesn't matter as long as the transdate also posts and was 11/24/12. It could take some time and fix itself. I had a merchant error issue with billing, my transaction date was the same date as the post date. Totally at the mercy of the vender or promo mishaps

No credit from macy's amex yet for me. I can't even access the credit card's account information online since it shows that my account info can't be accessed at this moment.

Contacted Amex secure message, they promptly passed the puck back to macys.

I guess I will need to speak to someone by phone, and preferably not an Indian with a ridiculous American name. Off topic, why/how they chose these stupid American names?

That's actually not true consider a huge number of folks were credited for using Macy's AMEX. I wouldn't make a judgement based on 1 rep of not knowing.

I know, but what can you do when they just flat out lie?

The first beetch I spoke to was all uppity and huffy about AMEX deal does not apply to Macy's AMEX. The second guy repeated the same script. The supervisor claimed he was not aware of the deal, but he did not rule it out. He passed the puck back to Macy's.

quick question:
are your credits showing up as a credit from amex or a credit from the place where you made your purchase?
I just had a $25 credit show up from amex after getting one from the business. Looks like I got double the credit. My statement has not finalized yet.

I haven't kept up with the thread so this may be repetitive. But for the sake for making sure the info is out there, I had registered for this promotion on all three of my accounts. I spent on all three of my accounts. (Once at a pet store and twice at a local t-shirt shop) yet I only received one email from AMEX thanking me for participating and it referenced the last four on one of the cards I used at the local pet store.

I decided to call AMEX and see what was going on. It only made sense to me that I would receive the email confirmation on all three accounts, after all. They said they would investigate the matter.

Just received a call back and they said the reason I did not receive a credit for this promotion was because I purchased online and I did not purchase "in store." This is absolutely not true but apparently it has something to do with how the merchant processes his credit card payments. (Dontknow Who knows? Maybe he gets a better deal with online versus in store card fees.) At any rate, I explained to her that I drove nearly to Waikiki to shop in this particular store and didn't purchase anything on-line. So....they are still looking into it. laugh out loud

I suggest that if you didn't receive email confirmation that you may want to call AMEX as well. Smilie

So it's a very easy case for you coz you have a receipt from the store.

Heck, I told him the address/location as we were chatting on the phone from memory. Plus I paid no shipping charges AND I have my receipts. laugh out loud

So apparently one of my cards didn't get the comfirmation email and Amex claimed it was never registered. Thankfully Amex credited me my $25 anyway... Good guys those Amex folks, I oly use their card for these deals and they still give me $25 of free stuff.

All of my credits showed up with the merchant's name. Someone theorized that this was being done to negate cash back (and other rewards) on these purchases.
