i had a ultra power supply quite some years ago and it worked great for many years after purchase. i don't remember what model it was. i live in south florida and both tigers direct and compusa is both within my reach without having to drive an extra 5 mi's. so i wondered if its possible to bypass shipping and my chat with a tigersdirect rep went like this... You may now close this window. my rep seems very iffy and honestly i dont trust the man. tigers direct/compusa does not let you see the rebate url till you make a purchase. had i known the rebate gets processed through 4myrebate.com, i wouldnt of made the purchase. i've heard terrible things with that processing site but i've never actually experienced it myself. now that i know though... i wonder if i should cancel the order or just proceed. :\ edited to show new adjusted billing: Net Product: $49.99 Sales Tax: $3.50 P & H: $0.00 Total Shipment: $53.49 but the area of shipping still states my house? i find it odd that anyone other than tigersdirect would sell ultra since its their exclusive brand. |

I bought an Ultra X-Finity 600W titanium (dark chrome) PSU for FAR around 2007. The fan stopped working, although the PSU worked fine. I got it replaced under Lifetime warranty, they didn't have any titanium, so they asked if chrome was okay. I didn't really care as my case has no window. I received a BRAND NEW PSU (not a refurb), although I had to pay return shipping. That PSU worked great until last year, when it completely died. I called, and a very nice lady named Janice said the X-Finity was discontinued, so they would have to replace it with something current that was in stock. She asked if the X4 750W would be okay. It's modular and a higher model than the X-Finity was, so I said "of course". She even sent me a shipping label for my dead X-Finity. I only had the X4 750W a few months when the power went out in the house, and the X4 wouldn't come back on. I called and got Janice again, and she said they don't have any 750W. Would an X4 850W be okay? So now I have an X4 850W and it's been working great for over a year now. Every time, they sent a brand new PSU, never a refurb. Janice even gave me a helpful tip about using apple vinegar to keep gnats away from my screen (the reason behind my SN). Anyway, the point is I got the same PSU purchase replaced 3-times under lifetime warranty, years apart, with no problems. Different model every time, but was always equivalent or better, and they always asked if the substitute model was okay. I also still have an Ultra 550W that was $10AR which is still going strong, never had to warranty it. Reviews I've seen on Ultra PSUs usually say that they're just "okay", but IMO, their warranty is spectacular. I've had Antecs fail just weeks after the 3yr warranty ended and Antec wouldn't do a darn thing. I would put Ultra at the top of my list just because their warranty is pretty awesome in my experience. |

A lot of other companies use 4myrebate, and I've used them about six times this year. No problems at all, and they've actually had faster turnaround than I expected. Systemax has run some shady rebate companies in the past (Worldwide Rebates, OnRebate), but they seem to be on the up-and-up with this one. Like all rebate companies though, make sure you follow the instructions exactly or they may deny your rebate. |
