Does it add on to other promotions...lets say i bought something from Apple.com on 10/6 thru' shopdiscver...does it mean i can get 5% for shopdiscover, 5% for online purchases promotion which begins from 10/1 and 2% for this double cashback..total 12%!
I rarely use my discover anymore... Usually only in the 5% categories, but somehow, the other credit card companies have gotten wise, and offer the same categories in the same quarter now...
I've got the paypal visa which gives 2% on anything you buy online using paypal...
And did you know that you don't have to use your discover card when going through shopdiscover? it will still give you the cashback even if you used another form of payment. I'm not sure if it is a glitch in their system, but I did it by accident once, and have done it ever since... so if they offer 10% cash back, then I use paypal as my payment form and get 12% total back... so far so good... but I wouldn't be surprised if they start reconciling the cashback and the charges on the card at some point...
But for now it looks like it works like any cashback site...they get their referral percent no matter what form of payment, So they're probably obligated to pass on your share.
if you have a hot freebie, do a search first. if it hasn't been posted, you may post it in either freebies or hot deals, but not both.
keep in mind that if it's only hot to you, it will get buried quicker in hot deals. plus freebies should be in the freebies forum but you won't be breaking any rules if you chose hot deals.
I haven"t had a Discover card in 20 years. Reason, 1/4% cash back on the first $1,000 of annual purchases, 1/2% cash back on the next $1,000 of annual purchases, 3/4% cash back on the next $1,000 of annual purchases and finally 1% on all purchases over $3,000.
Math indicates that they have saved $15 per year, and lost untold $1,000 'sdue to their stupid greedy parsimonious penny pinching policies. Also, they only pay 1/4% on purchases at Sam's Club, compared to 1% cash back with Master Card. I used to have a soft spot for Discover, because they pioneered the whole concept of a cash back credit card, and I would still be using same for most purchases except for their stupid greedy parsimonious penny pinching policies...
I check every few years, and I have given up all hope that they will ever wise up and become competitive...
