Magicjack (and magicjack Plus) is proprietary. Meaning you can't use their devices to connect to other Voip services. And you can't use other SIP device to connect to magicjack. That's the same for Nettalk and Ooma also. If something happened to Magicjack, Nettalk, Ooma, their device become useless. Or if your Magicjack, Nettalk, Ooma's device dead, you have to buy their device again. As for Magicjack plus and Ooma, the device is more expensive than Obi100/110. |

Alternative to GV, here are some good quality/low cost Voips. Remember Obi is a standard SIP device so you are not tie to GV and any specific Voip service. http://pbxinaflash.com/vitelity/ (Looks like Vitelity quality is gone. Read this thread in DSLReports for discussion about Vitelity quality [broadbandreports.com] http://www.callcentric.com/ <--- many SDers and people in other Voip forum recommend this. Callcentric currently offer FREE NY phone number with free unlimited incoming calls http://www.voip.ms/ <--- many SDers and people in other Voip forum recommend this. flowroute [flowroute.com] For free incoming call, beside Whistle Phone mentioned earlier, you can also use IpKall. It works with Callcentric to provide free local number in Washington State and free incoming call. http://www.ipkall.com/ Another service offer free incoming phone number http://www.sipgate.com/ Here are some of the Voip that offer very low price International Calls Onesuite and localphone offer a lot of local access number so can use it without Voip device. Those two also offer international local access number which you can use outside US. Check their website for more info. http://www.onesuite.com (Onesuite has been around for 10+ years and consistently great quality) http://www.localphone.com (cheapest pay-per-minute is by localphone.com at 0.5 cent/minute to US numbers) http://www.callwithus.com/ http://www.future-nine.com/ |

I was waiting for the Obi202 to be sale again ( $60 last time - http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/7...hone-ports ) but I can get by without the extra line and other features of the Obi202 for a while and my next landline billing cycle starts soon so here I go. At any rate ,this will device pay for itself fast. Now that I ordered the Ob110, the Obi202 will go on sale soon ....
Edit - As fate would have it the Obi202 showed up on sale today an hour after I ordered the Obi110 ! . cancelled my order for the Obi110 and purhase the Obi202. Last edited by bamx2; 09-26-2012 at 02:30 PM.. |

I've had an obi100 since April and its been 97% great. I switched my cell phone service by june to a per minute plan too which saves me about $60/mo since I just use the obi to do almost all my long chatting. In addition you can get free text messages to your GV number by installing the GVoice app on your android. The only caveat is you must be in wifi or have a data connection on your phone to send and receive them. This is also how I do almost all of my texting!
Great rebate Companies:
Patriot Memory (4myrebate.com): 6 Weeks Tiger Direct (4myrebate): 3 weeks Rain-X (in house): 3 weeks BAD BAD MAIL IN REBATE COMPANIES: Xigmatek 26 weeks, 14 emails, 2 phone calls (finally received) NZXT 20 weeks, 4 phone calls, still no rebate |
