guys if I remember correctly these are the 700mah version which will not charge your phone fast enough while using navigation! so beware, you need 2 amps typically for car use!
this is the same charger that comes with the bluetooth roadster
Many phones will not even charge at 2amps, but will rather filter it so it only gets a max of 1amps. And also, even if the phone did accept 2amp chargers, it would heat up the phone quicker, thereby decreasing teh overall life of the battery.
Typical home chargers such as the ones made by HTC and Samsung charge at a rate of 700mAh to 1amp
I've purchased 3 of these through Amazon and they're most likely knockoffs. However build quality is good and you can't really beat them for the price. They're great chargers except for two qualms:
- When running navigation with screen on (Verizon Gnex) the phone draws more than it charges. I'll actually lose around 10% of my battery per hour. If I'm on long navigation trips I'll actually turn the screen off at times so the battery will charge.
- The blue light is annoying given I leave mine plugged in at all times (I do have an LTE Gnex so it always needs charging). I've thought about wrapping the light in electrical tape.
Ordered one of these a few weeks ago. Apparently if you order through Amazon you will get a Motorola one, and you risk getting a knock-off if you buy through a third-party seller. Mine says it's rated for 950mAh.
