Thread Details

75,000 can be translated into $500 - $600 in Gift Cards to a variety of vendors. See the MyPoints.com website. Essentially you are getting $500 of Open Sky products for free!

Good through 9/30/12
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Everyone who is having a problem with points posting should be inundating their social media sites to elicit a response.

Be patient, they appear to be manually confirming orders with OpenSky. Apparently this has been delayed since OpenSky is on the east coast (Sandy). Send them your order confirmation (order #, subtotal, etc) through their website/email.

Dead. I don't see anything when I go to http://www.mypoints.com/rewards/OpenSky
Please read the thread before posting misinformation.

POINTS ARE STARTING TO POST AS PENDING ON MYPOINTS!

Return Policy:
At some point on Friday, Opensky changed their return policy from 'free returns' to a $7.95 charge per item. Phone reps have gone back and forth on whether the old policy still applies to orders placed before Friday, with no clear answer yet. Refer to attached screen-grabs for evidence of the old policy.

**Also check your invoice in the box when you receive your products, mine both state the old return policy and states FREE returns.

The problem is the 30 day return period and the fact that mypoints will not post any points
until 30 days.

Basically don't count on returning it to opensky Frown
I don't know why MyPoints won't post points in 30 days. See the screenshot.

Because at an average of $400 per customer and let us say 10000 orders, they need to spend
$4000000. That is a lot of money for any company, not just MyPoints or Opensky.

Will they still do it ? Maybe, only time will tell.

I don't understand why everyone is so scared they aren't going to give us the points. From what I've read, multiple customer service reps confirmed it was 150 points per dollar up to $500. Also, this was up for a long time. If it was a mistake, it probably wouldn't have lasted as long as it did. If it was a mistake, they then could have cancelled orders the next day for anyone who clicked through the link or at least asked people to confirm their orders and send out an email saying they made a mistake. None of this happened. A lot of things would have to align for this to have been a mistake and that includes a whole lot of people at two different companies being misinformed. Unless these companies are extremely incompetent, this wasn't a mistake. So let's hope for the best here and not panic until the 30 days passes with no points.

The worry comes from unusual behaviors of MyPoints:

1. Deals in the past month were not deleted from their Facebook page upon expiration, but this OpenSky promotion was removed from the page.

2. Despite the statement in the screenshot above, MyPoints claim that they are not depositing points in 30 days.

Guys, if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. If having $500 tied up for a little while is something that you are concerned with, you should have never purchased this deal in the first place.

Regardless, every communication from MyPoints has indicated that the points will be posted at 150/$.

Folks, let's analyze:

Mypoints is still claiming and confirming 150 pts promo, while they did something unusual like removing all the info regarding this info from their website and FB. Could that be kinda strategy? A strategy to scare those people who are not "brave" enough away? Like mypoints didn't make it crystal clear on purpose?

Say, some people would return the stuff bought from Opensky, because they are concerned Mypoints would not honor the 150 pts thing. Then after 30 days, Mypoints could just honor only those who didn't return the Opensky purchase. In this way, Mypoints would not ruin its reputation while having a little bit less loss?

Received my kegerator. Going to drink some beer and enjoy how this plays out. With the amex small business Friday coming up in 6 or so weeks, I'll be able to get $300 or so of free beer or about 6 pony kegs of microbrew. God I love slickdeals.

Thinking back, I kind of wish I got the kegerator. Hope they do something like this again!

Sorry for what may be a noob question, but are people leaving the boxes unopened just in the slight chance we'll need to return this stuff? Or do you think we're probably good to go even if we open the stuff and use it (as long as it's not food obviously) as long as we don't mess it up or get rid of the original packaging? I got a record player and I wanna see how it sounds since if it's a piece of junk I want to get rid of it.

That's not analyzing. That's over-analyzing. I think the simpler answer is they didn't anticipate the double points, someone asked about it on facebook, which led to more people joining in, and suddenly they realized "we need to take this down before more people notice it".

It would be stupid to try to trick people into backing out and returning the items. They do that and they pay for shipping both ways with nothing to show for it. They went to all the effort to setup and coordinate this program. We know they didn't get overwhelmed, because the system was pre-setup with a limit, where once the limit was reach the link from mypoints to opensky would bounce you right back to mypoints. So they never invested any more than they planned to invest.

The only reason I see to try to get people to return their stuff is if either 1) this was a massive screw up and they only intended 15 points or something, or 2) they for some reason decided that the quality of customer they reached wasn't what they hoped for. Both are possible, but neither are likely IMHO.

I opened the shipping boxes to ensure everything was there and appeared to be in good condition. I had 1 fragile item in a box which wasn't sealed, so I did pop it open to check the condition of the item and then closed it right back up. Other than that, the product packaging is not getting touched for now. Items are most definitely not getting used. I do have return protection so I am safe either way, but if this company screws us I don't want them getting away with a successful sale, so they are going to have to pay shipping both ways.
