Thread Details

75,000 can be translated into $500 - $600 in Gift Cards to a variety of vendors. See the MyPoints.com website. Essentially you are getting $500 of Open Sky products for free!

Good through 9/30/12

Everyone who is having a problem with points posting should be inundating their social media sites to elicit a response.

Be patient, they appear to be manually confirming orders with OpenSky. Apparently this has been delayed since OpenSky is on the east coast (Sandy). Send them your order confirmation (order #, subtotal, etc) through their website/email.

Dead. I don't see anything when I go to http://www.mypoints.com/rewards/OpenSky
Please read the thread before posting misinformation.

POINTS ARE STARTING TO POST AS PENDING ON MYPOINTS!

Return Policy:
At some point on Friday, Opensky changed their return policy from 'free returns' to a $7.95 charge per item. Phone reps have gone back and forth on whether the old policy still applies to orders placed before Friday, with no clear answer yet. Refer to attached screen-grabs for evidence of the old policy.

**Also check your invoice in the box when you receive your products, mine both state the old return policy and states FREE returns.

Sorry for what may be a noob question, but are people leaving the boxes unopened just in the slight chance we'll need to return this stuff? Or do you think we're probably good to go even if we open the stuff and use it (as long as it's not food obviously) as long as we don't mess it up or get rid of the original packaging? I got a record player and I wanna see how it sounds since if it's a piece of junk I want to get rid of it.

The worry comes from unusual behaviors of MyPoints:

1. Deals in the past month were not deleted from their Facebook page upon expiration, but this OpenSky promotion was removed from the page.

2. Despite the statement in the screenshot above, MyPoints claim that they are not depositing points in 30 days.
Someone posted a few pages back that they asked why it was deleted on Facebook and they said it was because people were getting confused and thought the deal was still running. I'm sure they haven't had another situation like this where people were getting their stuff practically free and therefore less hype and little interest in other deals they might have run.

I didn't see where anyone said they're not posting points within 30 days. What was their reasoning and who did you talk to?

This was stated on my prior post -- they said they are waiting 30 days to allow them more time to handle fraud cases since this was a significant deal, and to allow time for returns.

It still doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me though, because we can't use the points anyway until after 30 days. I guess it may be easier for MyPoints and OpenSky since they'd only have to send the transaction data once by waiting the full return period before doing so.

Dialogue between a Facebook user and MyPoints.com on Facebook:

User: When will the points from the 150 points per dollar OpenSky promotion show up as pending?

MyPoints: These Points will not show up until 30 days after purchase.

User: Even not showing up as pending? However, there is a screenshot showing that points will be credited within 30 days on the pop up when we clicked through the link from Mypoints to OpenSky when it was available. If you need so, here is the screenshot. http://i47.tinypic.com/1o28ub.jpg

MyPoints: Yes. For this particular offer, we are waiting the full 30 days to credit Points to sift through any fraud attempts.

User: It is rather strange. Having points pending but cannot cannot be redeemed for 30 days suffices to avoid fraud attempts, but also let members rest assured that the transactions have been recorded.

Users are confused is not really a good/strong reason to delete off the whole FB discussion.

They could have just posted a big bold "EXPIRED OFFER" that would have taken care of this.

Also, what kind of fraud they want to prevent by waiting the full 30 days to show the points as pending ? As pointed out, the points will be pending anyway and cannot be cashed out.
They can also put an additional hold of 10-15 days on the points if need be.

I am guessing they are trying/planning out some escape strategy, we just can't put our
finger on it yet Smilie

Are you always like this? Why are people so paranoid? Can't you wait 30 days? It is not a change it is upto $500/person, you should give reasonable time for mypoints and opensky.

If you can't wait just cancel or return your order and be happy! Don't whine, annoy and spoil the deal for others!

Chill out, I have been doing deals for over 10 years now and have seen them come and go and have learned a thing or two.

The deal is over, we are not spoiling anything for anybody, just having some speculation going
on while we bide our time. If you are not interested in the banter, feel free to ignore the thread Smilie

That makes me REALLY glad I didn't try to double up on this one.

I think a problem with that is Facebook's new system. I have had a few "Sponsored" posts come up from companies I follow with expired deals.

They're very diligent with fraud. More so than any other service I've defrau...errr... dealt with. But if you have 2+ different addresses, different names to use, IP's, credit cards, etc. You would probably pull it off. Too much of a risk for me though.

Agreed. Too sweet of a deal to risk.
