Price wise ...... not sure the x2 preformace can be beat for $640 as its one rebate per household. unless dipping one newegg and one amazon? then its $620 - much love with the cash left over from a 690 price tag of $1000 - personally IMO - Ill take the $380 cash savings and run with dual 680's or a 690 ![]() Take a real world look at performance results from real users experiences. http://www.overclock.net/t/872945...e-settings |

Great price but considering the HD7950 is just about the same thing. You can get a 7950 with a nice non reference cooler and be at ~95-98% the performance level at the same clock.
http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/gra...70-clocks/ 7950 is held down artificially by much lower voltages. For example I have a MSI Frozr3 7950 that runs perfectly stable @ 1100mhz @ 1130ma. That's 100 mhz faster and 46ma lower than a stock ghz edition hd7970. Unless you are bitcoining the extra shaders don't help that much. The HD7970 is a great card but if you don't want a reference cooler you can save a lot of money and get a great cooler from a vendor that doesn't charge you tax if you go with a 7950 instead. |

A full on 7970 for roughly the same money - reference cooler or not - is a great deal, same as if you could pick up a reference 680 for the same price as a 670... Last edited by toolio20; 09-27-2012 at 02:05 PM.. |
