if this card works well for you, then you got a great deal. There have been alot of problems with this card. I'd hedge my bets and avoid it. That's just a personal decision. I bought the nvidia gtx680 sc from newegg for 499. Free shipping, 20 dollar rebate, and borderlands 2 included. Again its a value decision.

If the 670 if more to your liking, that is a great card. I'd hard time upgrading the 4 series nvidia cards as well. Perhaps sell that one and pay the difference. All depends on your usage and finances.

If you are multi monitor or 120Hz gaming then it's down to personal preference. If money were no object I would get the 690 just because it's one physical card.

Yes - this is the 680's AMD equivalent.

The advantage of the Nvidia is typically driver support is better and some games (such as Borderlands 2) take advantage of the PhysX that AMD doesn't do as well.

For $300 - you're getting a hell of a deal considering it used to go for $550 plus on release and outperforms the Nvidia offerings at higher res (plus 680's are still ridiculously overpriced regardless).

Well said +1 to you and yes I am on a Dell U3011 30" LCD 1256 x 1600 so Im down with the 3bg ram and crossfire for my online FPS action. AMD has the drivers dialed in at current I feel and the "AMD Catalyst Application Profiles" for crossfires supports. IMO

missed the new egg deal for this and now i see the deal in amazon. Got 1 but tax in ca sucks major though. Anyways Thanks. i think this comes with sleeping dogs.

You are absolutely right, $12 isn't a big deal. But add another $30 in tax and now it's $42 cheaper. Throw in the fact that you get a more powerful/quieter cooler that likely gives you greater OC headroom/lower DB than the reference 7970 cooler you actually end up with a superior product for $42 less. If you want to factor in replacing the cooler with an after market cooler like and AC Acellero (another $70+tax) now you are over $112 cheaper. Granted at that point you have a superior product, but you had the headache of swapping a cooler. If this deal was for a 7970 ghz ed with a non-reference cooler then this would certainly be more compelling. Either way this was a great deal and would have recommended it.

I am still enjoying BL2, it's very similar to the first but I like the dialogue of all the characters (Scooter, Handsome Jack), the weapon variety is better, the big issue is that you find yourself running through the same areas over and over again on side quests it gets a bit repetitive, however I think the area/level designs are so good I enjoy revisiting them. It runs smooth on my 2600k/7950@1100 5760x1080. I missed the physx effects though.

why isn't geforce drop price at all? i has to stuck with their overprice card since i had the nvdia 3d monitor.
