Being a current player I gotta say I disagree. They are doing well to stick to the monthly update plans and are consistently bringing new content in each update.

Really? they have been promoting this for years. I don't play gmaes anymore (used to play Asheron's Call), but this one caught my attention. I liked the HP Lovecraft aspect of it. It seemed like it was going to deviate from the normal swords/magic/mythos.

Is it just the expense of creating one of these versus a FPS on xbox/ps that is making this a hard market?

For those playing, what about the player killing? That is really the main reason I played Asheron's Call and never got into the other, more group/quest focused games.

I love the character versatility being a former Asheron's Call player as well, I like being able to do my own building and synergies of the weapons. The underground societies make the game a lot of fun and the PVP while in game is being expanded on constantly. The big difference in PvP from AC is that you do it in a battleground like WoW style, except for the fact that there are 3 factions and not 2. For example you may be killing a guy from one of the opposing factions and then the other faction comes in to help, you tag team that guy and then end up finishing another off, more of a free for all feel to the PvP at least.

I can't wait for this to go free to play.

Yea, I played on Darktide so the player killing in only one area would be a bit of a change. I don't recall only 2 factions. There were three races (black, white, asian) and typically melee, missile, magic classes. Being on Darktide, however, a player could target any other player at any time unless they were in the same guild or in ghost mode.

This was extremely fun when doing raids and just random acts of violence but could be annoying as hell when trying to level/power up. But with this game having no leveling and no set class system is unique and would hopefully prevent the XP grinding/Vassel Pyramid Schemes.

How does that work? For instance, in Asherons Call a high level could run into a newbie town and decimate it, but with this game is there no difference between a new player and an established player? Could a newbie kill an exp. player?

the 2 factions I talked about were regarding WoW PvP not AC.

The leveling thing still has a difference as far as the gear, but its not as big a difference as the major level differences as in other games, WoW, AC, etc.

There is still a bit of xp grinding, but its because of you trying to unlock more abilities etc later on so you can be more flexible in what you do.

I agree with you, I bought the lifetime subscription due to how good it was. Very fun, involved, challenging MMO. It's nothing like WOW other than being an MMORPG, just as Team Fortress 2 is nothing like Quake 3 other than that they're both FPS games.

Additionally there's the persistent-PVP area that is a per-server zone, which has capturable Facilities and Wells with three-faction PVP in there (it's a good size, too, and well laid-out/designed). It's called Fusang. I spend a LOT of my game time in there as someone who loves PVP'ing.

Good game. A hidden gem.

Yeah, and that was way back in AC. Consider all the years since, in which the griefers have been honing their skills. These days when I try an MMO, I only join a carebear server. I don't have any interest in a server populated entirely by people who only play to ruin other peoples' days. No one's role-playing... they're just jerks, being jerky to other jerks, on a server full of jerks. That's not fun for me--that'd just be masochism.

(Doesn't help that my reflexes and attention span are not what they once were.)

Every MMO that's ever launched with a lifetime subscription has tanked horribly. And a 50% off sale one month after launch? That's like a kiss of death... I liked the concept a lot, but Funcom itself is just horrible. Was burned by Age of Conan. Know better.
