'Hidden' and 'mmo' will only lead to a dead game eventually, I have only heard of this game from obscure forum post referring to it by its acronym. Granted I thought it looked cool but there won't be enough new blood to sustain this for much time at decent server populations, especially with a monthly fee in this f2p market.
It's a good enough MMO but half of Funcom's workforce was gutted and the game is really on life-support. Broken raid frames in Fusang and consistent bugs have really plagued this game since the beginning. I would pay half and get your first free month just because I guarantee you'll get your money's worth but I wouldn't stick around long term. There simply isn't enough support.
Great graphics (game uses TXAA as a first which really makes the world seem vibrant and fluid)
Awesome setting (if you like guns and sci-fi/horror, you will be absolutely thrilled at some of your experiences)
Addicting leveling system (fast points and always goals you want to hit ability-wise)
Quest-givers are fully voiced and some of the personalities are really memorable
Combat is pretty dynamic and a lot like Guild Wars 2 where you can cast on the move and have to dodge enemy attacks
Every MMO that's ever launched with a lifetime subscription has tanked horribly. And a 50% off sale one month after launch? That's like a kiss of death... I liked the concept a lot, but Funcom itself is just horrible. Was burned by Age of Conan. Know better.
Please engage brain before using your fingers. If you don't understand read it again.
Americans are so enamored of equality that they would rather be equal in slavery than unequal in freedom.... The subjection of individuals will increase amongst democratic nations, not only in the same proportion as their equality, but in the same proportion as their ignorance.
Loved playing the trial. Still horribly tempted to purchase this. I don't think I'll purchase this without other friends playing, though. And subscriptions... BAH! Thanks for posting this, though, I'll have to think about this yet again.
es they have been rolling out content packs. Yes the game is fun and shows promise. Having said that there are a lot of issues. While they put resource into useless features like plastic surgery and barbershops they totally ignore the AH and its failed code. There are hosts of similar games out with fully functonal AH. How they failed so miserably is beyond me. The AH is an integral part to the economy and important for character and gear progression. Secondly they have taken up the practice like many mmorpgs of nerfing skills or gear. Players literally spend 100s of hours to develop a character around the skills and gear available. When a major change is made to reduce the effectiveness you undermine all of that time. The only way to make this right with us users is to allow for a reroll of skills. It is also why used gear shouldnt all be bind on equip. Then we would be able to afford and play through your mathematical mistakes and subsequent fixes during your perceived balancing. Your last nerf basically had me not logging in for two weeks it sucked so much relevant to my build and all my time spent to date in the game.
Haven't played this game so I can't weigh in on the value. However, I'll second Lindsford and recommend GW2. You can snag it for $50 and never have to pay again. Unlike other MMO's, GW has a terrific track record of support well after purchase. Heck, I jump on my original GW account that I set up like 6 years ago.
So like many people I too was burned by Funcom with AoC. I did decide to pick this game up last month when Origin had it on sale for $24.99. This game was a huge surprise, It veers off of the normal MMO path with great success. It was nice playing an MMO that isn't overrun with Orcs and Goblins.
I cant agree with you more Justcausetx. This game is very different from your cookie cutter MMOs that have released recently. No real need for alts, lots of stuff to do for both the PvP and PvE elements, and most importantly, for me at least, more than enough to do for completionists, ie tons of lore, achievements, etc to work on.
