Have you tried both front and back connectors?\ Have you checked that your wires are in good shape. (a mouse recently chewed through my phone charger wire). BTW: You can go into the Device Manager and uninstall the Audio drivers, including deleting them. Upon rebooting, the Windows generic drivers would take over, so that would confirm if it is a driver problem or not. There are actually many ways the audio can get messed up. After getting your response, I/we will be able to better determine what's going on. |

There is the rare possibility that the onboard audio chip is blown, although it's not conclusive yet, but in the event that it is, the cure is inexpensive for a common audio card, or if you want great sound, you can get a decent Sound Blaster for $25 at Amazon. If you are using Win 7 (as opposed to XP) you should be able to "see" audio in various fashions, for instance, just raising and lowering the volume, should show you some green bouncing up and down or for more effect, just play some music and see if you are getting a visual. Please advise if the audio is visible or not. BTW: Just as a passing thought, if or any reason it's not convenient to install a sound card, you can get low end USB types for similar prices. One of the SD'ers in another thread from a couple of weeks ago, lost audio on his mobo, and he bought a small converter device from Amazon (I believe) for $7 and it just plugs into a USB port, and it gives you the regular mini pin audio output, like you presently use. Lastly, can you describe the sound you are getting at present? When you boot up the PC, does the scratchy sound come on even before Windows starts to boot up? |

Using Win 7 sorry should have went into more detail, does it with the onboard audio, and Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card.
Booting up sounds normal it's when I play a movie or music anything with booming sound effect bass is when it sounds terrible, thought at first it would be the M-Audio AV 40 but since its also doing it with the Wireless Stereo Headset has to be something else? |
Now we're looking at a different situation that what I had thought before.. Do the wireless headphones hook up to the mini pin audio out, or by USB? I suppose you have tried different media players, correct? If you or anyone around you has a set of USB headphones, then it could be determined if the audio is distorting at the digital level, or the analog chip or D/A converter. ooops..... wait a minute. You have a Sound Blaster in there, which you are connected to, correct? What happens to the sound if you remove the card and go with the onboard audio? |

Anyone who says the contrary is just BS'ing. The great news is that it's solved and that's the only thing that matters. Enjoy. |
