![]() Thanks OP. Grabbed one. |

However, if I did get a crash on either drive, I would attempt to do what someone else mentioned in a previous thread of this same drive. I would call up Seagate, and explain that it crashed, and that I have very important data that I need to attempt to extract from the drive, and as such, I need to open up the case and connect the drive directly to SATA to try to rescue any data that I could. From what was mentioned in the other thread, Seagate is willing to allow you to do that, as long as you send back the case. (Which I have kept anyway, and put an older, smaller drive into) ![]() Obviously, this is a bit of a white lie, but I don't have any qualms about it, because I believe the warranty should be on the drive itself, not the casing. Of course, I will cross this bridge, if I have to... (Lets hope not!!!)

anyone know when the 4TB drives will be coming back? I feel for the people effected by the flooding but come on now, it's been a year since they were last available at any decent number (or I suppose for a decent price) I have a number of external 3TBs and I really want to add a 4TB, so I have been waiting (now a full year since I decided to wait a few weeks/months before buying a 4TB seagate..... talk about bad timing on my part
)

For those wondering about the quality, here's my experience with Seagate drives:
I've had 3 Seagate hard drives (that I know of--not sure what brand some internal hard drives have been). One of them is in a desktop that has more or less been running non-stop since 2004. Next I have another 1TB internal I got in 2010 that has not had any problems at all. And finally I have a 3TB external FreeAgent GoFlex that I got in last year's Black Friday $100 ($75 for me after Staples PM and coupon ) deal. Each one has performed flawless and I'm extremely happy with them.
