these are not definitely kids toys. I have a few Pirates ships and a couple of other $150 range legos for my kids, and they are all in one pile now, no way to tell what is what. Could have probably bought a used Honda for the money. be prepared to cry as you see them in pieces after yur kids are done with them.

every 3 or 4 months, I help my 8,6, and 3 year-olds organize our legos. I've been getting sets since I was 5 back in the 70's. We sort bricks/parts by type/color in dozens of bins and ziploc baggies. All doors in one place, all standard 2x2,2x3,2x4 bricks of the same color in one bin, all transparent clear bricks in one bin, all flats in another, also sorted by color.

We can still build any of the original sets we have instructions for, we just pull all the needed pieces first. 35 years worth of legos requires some sort of system!

So tempted to pick up the Death Star which I don't have yet. But I have a spare bedroom filled with bulk Lego I still need to sort; every time I try, I want to get drunk instead.

Remember kids, don't mix up your sets into one big pile of Lego.

These are not your childhood legos, the detail has been greatly improved on everything and the number of pieces on this one is outrageous.

Hey everybody, look, Lego figured out how to mold plastic into more than just a block.

Do you guys realize how expensive it is make one plastic reference mold and spit out a trillion plastic pieces from it (similar to baseball card in the 90's, or coins, etc).

Oh wait. lol

Words of caution to those looking to hold and flip these for big money: These newer ultimate Star Wars sets have sold 10s of times as many sets as the original Millennium Falcon. The only reason the price on that is so high is that it is relatively rare. The vast majority of USW sets sell for a small fraction above original purchase price. These will definitely get you your money back in a couple years, but I wouldn't expect a whole lot more. Once resellers expect value to skyrocket, they buy en masse, resulting in an over-saturation that minimizes profit for everyone.

This is a good point. Just like comic books and baseball cards, the later iterations are nowhere near as rare as past models. I'm not saying this should discourage anyone from buying what looks like a pretty cool set. If it weren't out of stock I'd probably be in for one. But I'd caution people from buying it if investment is the only motivation. It will take much longer and the returns will be much smaller than past sets that have skyrocketed in value.

I just got my Super Star Destroyer delivered via Fedex today. It poured rain today so I was worried the shipping box would have been soaked through and got the actual Lego box wet. Got home and was a bit shocked at how it was shipped. Walmart just put the shipping label directly on the Lego box and shipped it that way. I've never had something shipped with the label right on the box. Needless to say the box is mangled, scratched, damp (not soaking wet since they managed to get it between the house and screen door)). Called Walmart CS, no help, they said if I ordered another it would probably be shipped the same way, and probably the same way if shipped to the store. Gonna return it and buy from Amazon, at least they should (hopefully) but it in a box for shipping. (And I didnt but it for an investment but really don't want a beatup wet box)

Anyone else get the Super Star Destroyer shipped with just a label directly on the Lego box?

FYI, I got my Death Star sold and shipped by Amazon, and they put it in a smile box as always. Still has a minor dent on the Lego box, I guess its heavy weight causes it when it's moving around inside the box during the transportation.

I had this experience before when I ordered a Lego set 10195 Republic Dropship with AT-OT. It arrived the same way -- wet from the rain with the mailing label stuck right on the lego box itself. No shipping box at all. I was aghast!EEK!

I returned it to a Walmart store and ordered another one. The next one they shipped came in a shipping box. A horror story indeed.Whee
