That's what my very comment hinges on.

If the intent is to keep the Q6600 then he's essentially paying $200 to use only a portion of what the card is capable of with his current setup vs getting a lesser card and run it to capacity.

The "carry over" is only sensible if he overhauls ASAP. If he holds the card and Q6600 for a prolonged period of time then he would of have never accessed the cards full potential, lost money due to depreciation and be overshadowed by cheaper and more powerful cards.

I know a lot of folks are still hanging on to their Q6600, a legendary CPU, but its time is up.

Unless your full intent is the "carry over" quickly, and very quickly..... it would be unwise to pair a top tiered card with a Q6600 for any length of time.
