Keys are matte, plastic, laser cut, and have a nice feel to them. Rest of the keyboard is glossly black. Keyboard is really heavy, has an awesome weight to it. Very sturdy, good build quality from what I can tell so far. It has two plastic things covering where a usb ports would be, Its on the back of the keyboard.

Ok, I got this keyboard today. And I wanted to get this out of the way. At first with the naysayers, I was worried. Very worried. So I was half expecting it to explode the moment I un-boxed it. Surprisingly to me, it didn't. As a matter of fact, it worked just fine. It's quite sturdy, hefty, and not at all 'cheap feeling.' At the very least, not to me. This is my first mechanical keyboard. And so far it's been a real delight. Even for gaming I've not noticed any problems. Barring of course something that has caught my eye that really bothers me. On monoprice, they advertise that each key is monitored independently. And that this keyboard has full NKRO. Perhaps that's the ad they use for ALL their mechanical keyboards. Perhaps not. In any event, even in ps/2 mode, no, it does not have full NKRO. Which was disappointing, as that was one of the numerous reasons I upgraded to a mechanical keyboard in the first place. Still for no frills it is as advertised, and the build construction is both robust and sturdy with rather excellent build quality. Though restated, without full NKRO I can't give this a super high mark. Everything else is just great though. Thick cord, high grade plastic, good weight. If you want something for typing and maybe you're on a tighter budget? I would most certainly recommend this keyboard.
