Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Blue [monoprice.com]

Looks like this was just added to their catalog, no pics or anything yet, I wonder how they compare to the Reds or blacks they carry which are more expensive.

Also use coupon code "catalog12" to bring it down to the price listed above.

Nice find! This has to be the cheapest mech keyboard yet, right? Too bad there's no pictures or reviews.

Decent price, would like to see pictures before I order, however.

Thanks for the heads up.

Cooler master cm storm rapid has been on sale a few times recently for less than $60. Excellent keyboard from a reputable manufacturer with cherry mx blue. Maybe wait for that to go on sale again

This is the cheapest mech yet and Monoprice isn't a bad brand either. I believe the CM you are talking about was the one from OM or OD that was 60 some with a $20 or 20% coupon

Be careful about Blues; they do not have the same release point as their registration point, making quick taps on the same key nearly impossible. Blacks are the best for FPS, Blues are the loudest and alright for typing though.

I thought the Blues were the best overall. Even though they are loudest (which could be a good or bad thing for some) and aren't good for gamers (this I believe isn't a big critique since gamers probably already know this and would stray away from the Blues)

Yeah, they're supposedly the best if you don't game. Some gamers do like them, however, so I guess it's all preference. Personally, I'm sticking with the reds since I'm a gamer. If I were to get one for work, I'd be looking at blues or browns.

This one seems cheap enough that it's not too big of a risk to try it out. However, having no pics/reviews would turn me away. Also, I'd look in to the return policy in case it doesn't work out.

Mech keyboards use mechanical parts as opposed to a rubber membrance in cheap keyboards. Each key stroker is more precise and if you type a lot it's well worth it.

They are also user replaceable and usually have longer warranties. Of course they are also more expensive, but the thought is that in the long run you save $

Cherry MX Blues are indeed better for typing. They have to bottom out which helps for ignoring accidental keypresses.

For a full guide plus some pictures to help you visualize the difference check this link:

The Cherry MX Black keyboard they have shown on their site looks the same as the ione brand one that I bought with MX Blue switches. I believe this is it:

I'm very happy with it. Maybe they received MX Blue versions of the MX Black keyboards they already had?

Its kinda funny that you say you like Reds, because the the DasKeyboard link says the following;

"Cherry Red switches are similar to the Cherry MX Blacks in that they are non-tactile. They require less force to actuate than the Cherry MX Blacks. Most people do not like these switches for typing or gaming because it is so easy to accidentally press keys and make typing errors. These switches are very difficult to find and considered to be obsolete because so few people like them."

My gaming keyboard has Blues and they are awesome. Its easy to feel if you've pressed the key and typing on it is very fast and satisfying.
