The point of it is: there could be some proprietary issue attached to the case you are currently using: a USB front module issue, or this old case requires you to use some odd, proprietary sized power supply. Since you seem to be silent as to the specs of it, there are questions posted that you don't seem to want to answer. Thing is, you haven't been really forthcoming with info about what you are using here, so nobody here has any idea as to what case you have on your bench. Some older systems that are branded or even generic in one way or the other use a proprietary sized PSU, or one that is of a certain size that is not a normal ATX size. Many old system cases have older USB modules in the front, and/or proprietary cables to connect front panel components. You haven't said what the specs are of the case, other than you want to reuse it. Thus the recommendation to replace it because it is quite old from your description and not described or specified with something in keeping with 'standard'. I believe the system will accomodate at least a micro ATX board and "hopefully" an ATX PSU, so you should be good to go. If you find it will not support an ATX power supply, you could be in for problems later on. The techs here have been more than accomodating with advice and more than nice and respectful to you with your questions, until you started attacking them and posting attitude. You, on the other hand, have been pretty much disrespectful of the inquiries they have posted -- asking for information needed in order to diagnose your situation and give advice. For someone who indicates in his previous posts and disrespects the techs here because you 'say' you have been a tech for years, you should know the scenario of what needs to be asked and answered, and you should not have any issue with answering the questions. If you trully have been a tech for 15 years as posted above, this little kit should be a cakewalk for you ..... you should know what to do without asking questions on any forum -- much less disrespect the integrity of this forum. Be sure to update before running it.
Get Malwarebytes free edition [cnet.com] Be sure to update before running it. Get SuperAntiSpyware free edition (SAS) [cnet.com] Be sure to update before running it. |

The case specs I can't say for sure as it is old and white box. Full tower, 4x3.5" bays, 2x 2.5" bays. Supports ATX, and uATX as both have been used before. The current PS is a Rosewill RV200 and I believe the case will support the PS I listed. I defer to your point on fitting requirements. My original post was just looking for better value or performance for the price for the parts I listed (case not included) and this has gone way off the rails. I don't think I have been disrespectful in this, I've presented my father's situation with facts and what I'm looking for him and have been met with opposition in some opinions. Some accomodating and nice, some not so much. I do thank you for your post as it detailed what you actually wanted to know and I hope it has been provided.
