I bought two OTG cables when the similar deal was posted a month and a half ago (don't think it ever really ended...) I noticed at the time that the same seller had both the "Sanoxy" cable for ~$.70 and the "eForCity" cable for ~$.80, so I bought one of each to increase my chances of getting a good cable. They finally arrived weeks later and what do I find...? Even with different 'brands' listed, they still sent be two of exactly the same unbranded cables ("Crazy-Store", seller from Hong Kong). So don't expect anything much from these. They'll probably work, and for and price it's hard to complain, just not real quality parts.

Like aaniari kinda explained... the HP Touchpad can use the OTG cable and be a USB host, but it doesn't supply power! If you're using ... well anything pretty much... it's going to require power from another source. The easiest method, like the youtube video mentions, is using a USB Y cable and hooking up the connection to another USB host device to supply the power (like a powered hub).

I use to work there and they constantly got complaints that their items ruined people's expensive electronics. Once something even caught on fire. They were constantly giving refunds because the items wouldn't work. I would never ever buy anything from here.

Um... from who?? I didn't mention ANY sellers in that post you quoted. My previous post mentioned two different makers, so still no way to know who you're talking about.
EDIT: I'm guessing you meant to reply to the thread and were only talking about the eForCity items, but hit reply to my post instead. That at least makes sense, but as I mentioned earlier, the Hong Kong seller sent me identical items, even though they were listed as two different makes. So there's no necessary relation to those makes and what you may really be receiving, if he's just selling whatever generic he happens to have on hand like it seems.

I have a HP Touchpad too. The original micro usb cable attached to the charger broke. So I cannot charge the tablet. So will this one work?

Any micro usb cable will work with the touchpad provided that you have the original wall charger.

Yeah thats exactly what happened. eForcity items in general are very unreliable and I don't trust them.

Not the right price. Ebay has them for 99 cents all day long.
